Wow - candy aspirin? I remember candy cigarettes, but I guess by the time I was paying attention to that stuff they decided that encouraging kids to eat a bunch of pills was probably a bad idea.
I remember in fourth grade my friend's mom would send her to the corner convenience store to buy her cigarettes with a note saying it was okay.

When I was your age some psycho decided to poison bottles of Tylenol. I was going to say, there's a pretty good reason for all the packaging. Annoying as it is.

I remember toy doctor kits coming with little bottles of candy pills.
Someone mentioned the box of ice cream that you could peel open and cut slices from - we still have that.
(I know someone who buys it, along with rectangle wafer cookies to make "homemade" ice cream sandwiches. Which seems like busywork, considering you can buy boxes of 20 for next to nothing and it's not like buying the brick of ice cream and cookies separately and assembling it yourself is somehow more nutritious.)

But you can choose your own flavor of ice cream! There aren't many options in ready-made ice cream sandwiches - I've only seen vanilla, neapolitan, and mint chip (and the latter two I've only seen in the past couple of years).

Plus, crunchy cookies! Not soggy, chocolate-ish cookie facsimiles!

Plus, crunchy cookies! Not soggy, chocolate-ish cookie facsimiles! This! The cookies on ready-made ice cream sandwiches manage to be both soggy and dry somehow. My mom occasionally goes to this bakery/ice cream place near her job that will make an ice cream sandwich out of any two cookies and any flavor ice cream you want. She mainly opts for chocolate chip cookies with wild maine blueberry ice cream. So. Jealous.

When I was a wee lass in the Reagan era, my family took my cousins and me to a tour of the White House, where we received souvenir cigarette packs with the presidential seal on them. Obviously, this was before the negative effects of smoking were widely disseminated.

I went on a WH tour during the Reagan administration as a wee lass too! I very very wee though so I don't remember it at all, which is unfortunate because it's so difficult to get to do the tour these days.

I was too young to remember it either. I should find those cigarette packs (the 'rents still have them somewhere) and see how much I can get them on E-bay or something.
