The first sign you're losing it: De lurking to rave about the horror that is Home And Away, then seeing a "Home And Away weddings special" DVD and wondering if you should buy it.
In my defense, it is hosted by Sally.
Did anyone in Australia actually see the Simone Warne Dancing With The Stars fiasco? I briefly read about it in one of the gossip mags and they made it sound like she'd suffered the worst humiliation possible, been scarred for life, and been pushed back into Shane's arms because of it. I'm left wondering what could possibly happen on the dance floor to cause all that?

catfrog, I didn't see it, but there's an article in this weeks' or last weeks' New Idea or Womans' Day (shows how much I pay attention) about it all where she said she just didn't gel with her dance partner, and it was all too much for her and a very stressful experience. Hmm....I could think of more stressful things to go through.
She hasn't been out of the tabloids since her split with Shane. She must have a very good publicist.

Simone Warne is the Australian version of Victoria Beckham. Although thank heaven she weighs a little bit more.
Oh, and I know that this is technically a Kiwi thing, but hoo-rah to the All Blacks! Who wants to dance the haka with me? ;D

No hakas here, I'm afraid. We've got the Springboks on Saturday, and I don't like our chances.

This is sort of random and I apologize, but I wish there was somewhere to buy Violet Crumble and Pollywaffles here in Florida. The only place I can find them is online, and shipping is usually outrageous! Mmmm....Violet Crumble.
On another Australia related note, the "Where the Bloody Hell Are You" ad campaign can be *really* off-putting if you don't keep in mind cultural context (and most people don't). The first time I saw one I went: 'What? Why is that chick in a bikini yelling at me!?' A friend of mine had to explain the whole thing, so now it doesn't bother me. But still---some things just don't translate well.

That is the worse ad ever. I have nothing against the word bloody, which is what all the fuss was about over here but as various friends have said (S.African, Canadian, British, French, Brazillian and American) it makes no sense if you are not Australian or if you don't have an understanding of Australianisms. That and the damn girl does nearly yell it.
That and the fact that "where on earth are you?" would have been so much better

The new All Black haka is here It gives me shivers down the spine - I was working in a big tavern the night of the Wallabies/ABs match the other night and when they did the new haka it was just electrifying.

I just watched that haka (is the purpose to strike fear into the hearts of the enemy? is it a Maori thing?), and TTMR asked, "What's that?" I told him, "It's your All Blacks." We were in NZ last Sept. and he bought an All Blacks jersey as a souvenir. Unfortunately, because I'm an American and we have cheerleaders and dance squads for our sports teams, all I could think was they looked sort of like this. Except way more manly, of course.
