That's her. Had cancer, went on to date Mark Philloupousis (who left her for Paris Hilton! Hah!) amd then she took up with Brian McFadden, an ex boy-bander. I think he was the duet one. And he was married to Kerry Katona when he took up with Delta. He left Kerry but continued to call her a whore and a c*** in the media. The mother of his children! Anyway, Brian's latest single has been pulled off the radio for glorifying date rape. So, he's a winner all round. It wouldn't bug me so much but for the fact that Delta markets herself as a sweet, wholesome girl.

I don't really follow Delta but she sounds like she has some serious issues if she's taking up with dirtbag like that!
Ok, I was at Jezebel today and they reported a story about radio host Jackie O coming under fire from a politician named Pru Goward because Jackie O was crossing a crosswalk and feeding a baby at the same time. She compared it to Michael Jackson dangling his baby off the balcony. Maybe I'm missing something here but wtf is the big deal? Is Gowad suggesting it's impossible for women to walk and feed a baby at the same time? Jackie O crossed the street at a crosswalk so she wasn't taking any risks and I'm going out on a limb and assume she looked both way before stepping out in the street! Am I missing something here?
Also, what was with the Pru Goward's finger wagging over women returning to work after having a baby?

And she's rumoured to have been John Howard's (ex Prime Mininster) mistress which is just mind boggling. But the Jackie O thing - gawd, don't make me feel sorry for Jackie O! *shakes fist* Jackie works on that horrible radio show with Kyle ... the one that put a teenage rape victim through a lie detector test on air. So, Jackie had her baby earlier this year and went back to work when the kid was six weeks old. And when I say go back to work, I mean she works two hours a day and can work from home because they have a line plugged in there for her to do the show live. Kyle also doesn't really go into the studio but does most of the show from LA. So, it's not like she jumped back into one hundred hour weeks while the kid was barely out the womb. But, Australian women did just win significant maternity leave provisions last year so Pru's point (in a typically incoherent and unsupportive way) is that Jackie is setting a bad example for other professional women by not taking advantage of those provisions. But, you know what, Jackie is in a unique position. She's a celebrity so it's not like being a GP where she could have a locum cover her job for a year. Her job is dependent on her presence. Plus, she earns a fortune so even though the maternity leave provisions are generous (three months paid leave from your employer, nine months leave paid by the govt at like $550 a week, you can't be easily fired in that time) that's not really going to stack up against a million plus a year. In addition, the father of a kid is staying at home so it's not like the child is being left in a closet with a dozen bottles of formula all day long. Basically, if the situation were reversed no one would be a saying boo. So, there's that part of the story and then she got snapped feeding her baby while crossing the road on a crossing. Bad evil mother, apparently. Just like Michael Jackson, indeed.  And I just feel so dirty coming to the defense of bloody Jackie O. |

Question for the Aussie Greecies: How is Cate Blanchett generally perceived Down Under? In Hollywood, she has the "elite actress" rep. Is she considered the #2 to Nicole Kidman? How well known is she to the general public?
I read an article where Cate was speaking at some sort of conference for the future of Australia in regards to arts funding, the environment, and other issues and the user comments in the article contained a fair amount of vitriol towards her as an elitist snob.

Cate is definitely very famous here and well regarded. I would say she is probably more respected than Nicole Kidman as an actress.
I've never heard the "elitist snob" thing before, but the comments at News Ltd papers (which I'm guessing you were reading, the Fairfax papers, which is the other media conglomerate here, don't have comments sections AFAIK) are always full of ignorant, shit-stirring bogans.
