That house is nice, but it ain't worth $33 mil. Greedy people.

Gross, as it is, I'm sure they'll get close to $33 mill for it. It's beachfront, has a famous architect and famous past owners. I have to wonder though, what kind of security and privacy can a place like that have?

I have a few Lautner book and from what I can tell it doesn't have much privacy. It is right on the Pacific Coast Highway - so there is a high wall to block the sound - but anyone can drive right by it and the beach front is just that. It is right on the beach and without curtains anyone walking on the beach can see right into the first floor!

I would imagine that with the provenance of that house, one would buy it for the status of ownership rather than for privacy.

The way the house is lit up in that picture, it looks like you could look in from the beach and see what they're eating for dinner. That would make me feel uncomfortable living there, so I would imagine it would make a celeb feel very unprotected.
I think the Arquettes actually bought that house in 2000 or 2001 right before housing prices soared, so that accounts for a bit of the increase too.

Wow, Yoss, our little Hendersonville made the Australian papers? I heard about this on the local talk radio show this afternoon. We were on Old Hickory Lake last summer.
There was some drama when Barry Gibb bought the house last year. Some Tennesseans were not exactly welcoming him with open arms. I guess they thought that it should be a museum or a shrine. I love Barry Gibb and Johnny and June Cash, so I thought it was great.

You live near there, borokat? It looks so pretty. You're lucky. Did you scope out Johnny's house while you were there?

No, we are on the other side of Nashville. But my aunt and uncle have a houseboat on the lake, and we spent the day with them last summer. It is an absolutely gorgeous area. Let me see if I can dig up any pics. ETA: This is the only pic I have of the scenery and it is not great, but it gives you a glimpse of how pretty the hills are surrounding the lake. Old Hickory Lake
