The fact that Andrew Scott is now exclusively referred to as the hot priest from Fleabag is....baffling. I didn't get his appeal back when he got the Sherlock fangirls all hot, and I don't get it now. I've talked about this in the TV threads, there is such a nervous energy about his acting with the same ticks in every performance, I can NOT take the man seriously. His acting in Fleabag was him being toned down a bit, but still.

I thought Andrew Scott did a good enough job with the Fleabag character, but I did not see the immense hotness. The show convinced me that he and Fleabag were really into each other, so I bought that. I wish Phoebe Waller-Bridge had spent a little bit less time talking up Andrew Scott nonstop and had given a little more credit to Sian Clifford. Or even the dude who played Claire's husband.

I’d never seen Andrew Scott in anything before, but he has a brief part in one scene of 1917. I did not know it was him until I looked it up on IMDB later and I was rather confused. He’s an attractive man certainly but he did not stand out in any way for me.
Richard Madden on the other hand, who also has a brief part in one scene of 1917 (as do most of today’s working UK actors apparently) now he stood out to me even under all the dirt and grime he had on him.

I think Scott is probably a fine actor and handsome as well. But I just never got the whole Sherlock deal. I loathed that performance, IMO he made all the wrong acting choices there and I never understood why the performance was so popular. You can go big and consciously OTT villain, but IMO he struck all the wrong notes. And it was even more obvious since IMO Cumberbatch and Freeman were acting circles around him. Yeah, these two can be annoying as hell, but to me it's perfectly obvious why both their careers took off with the series. Brilliant, well considered performances by both of them. ETA: This was more "Performances You Don't Get", sorry.

Thank you for saying this about Andrew Scott. He's not hot. Not a hot priest. His chemistry with Fleabag was good, but I did not find him all that attractive. Certainly not "I'm going to burn in hell for having sex with a priest but he's a hot priest so it's worth it" attractive.
I much preferred the Hot Priest trope in Derry Girls. The dude was better looking, and have definitely encountered "cool priest" type. I loved how Sr. Michael reacted to him to.

Instead, they were annoying.

I know this will offend a lot of people, but I finally saw Chris Evans in a movie (Knives Out). Sorry, that guy is downright homely. I could tell he had muscles because he had those muscle man-boobs that stuck out of his sweater, which I don't find appealing. His acting was ok, but he's so nothing to write home about.

To me he's like Viggo Mortensen, only hot with a beard.
