Remember the weight loss choclates called Aid(e)s? I'm not sure if they were only here in Canada or not. Gawd, yes, they were big in the '70s and then disappeared in the '80s. New disease equals loss of viable product name

When a commercial for Asiphex comes on TV, we all get really juvenile. Hey, nice Asiphex! Did you lose weight, or am I just seeing the Asiphex?

There was a hair salon in my hometown called "The Public Hair". It was only in business for a few years, but it was entertaining while it lasted.

Theres a fizzy drink here called SARS. Sure, I know its short for Sarsparilla, but when everyone was panicking that they'd catch SARS and die, it amused me.

Oooh! Good thread! Along with the unfortunate TuRD (see 1st post) you can also read it as TaRD, which is unfortunately how my mind sees it. My son uses Butt paste! Love it! And wasn't it the Chevy Nova that translates to "No Go" in Spanish? Bwah! SARS over at TWOP always makes me think of the disease too.

There was a hair salon located on Yew street in my hometown. It was called Joanne's Down on Yew. It was run by a little old lady whom I doubt understood the connotations of that name. I remember the Ayds diet candy. They still have some of their commercials out there in cyberspace.

They were spelled "Ayds" in the US. I remember their full-page ads in my mom's magazines.

They were spelled "Ayds" in the US. I remember their full-page ads in my mom's magazines. I remember that my mom used to buy them and she wouldn't share them with me. I was very put out, although now as an adult, I can appreciate that my mom was probably thinking, "You're 7 years old! You can have real candy!"

I can remember my grandma having tea and an Ayds candy every morning for breakfast. I remember they looked revolting. I just ordered a couple of cases of this product[/color].
