Also around that age, I crushed on the oldest brother in the Dicey's Song series, was his name James? The book Sons from Afar was really great in that regard, heh. I did, too. It seems like Dicey's boyfriend Jeff also gets crushed on a lot.

He's awesome in "A Solitary Blue," but as soon as he starts mooning over scrappy Mary-Sue-Dicey, I lose interest.
So many literary heroes, even my beloved Gilbert Blythe, are fairly one-dimensional, but Joe is such a... character! I love his sense of humor. And his support of Betsy's writing alone would forever endear me.

My crushes were always present in my low-brow literature. Bruce Patman from Sweet Valley High still holds a special place in my heart and of course Wolf from Tiger Eye by Judy Blume. Although I read that book a few years ago and now just find him creepy.
I also had a big thing for Gilbert Blythe.
And I can't believe I'm blanking on the name but I had a horrid crush on the sailor boyfriend in Witch of Blackbird Pond all throughout grade school. He's a sailor! And he loves an independant woman! And he doesn't want people to get burned at the stake! What's not to love?

I can't decide between Ranger and Joe from the Stephanie Plum series. I'm currently going with Ranger because Joe has become kind of dull...

Here's an oldie - when I was a kid I read the Captain Blood books, and I had a crush on him. He was a pirate, but an honourable one... how could you resist that?

Although I read that book a few years ago and now just find him creepy. I had the biggest crush on Wolf, too. I should reread it to see if I catch the creepy this time around. Although, I don't know if I will, since I read that book about a dozen times. Ooh ooh I remember that book! His name was...his name was...crap...was it, Nathan or Nathaniel or something? Also, when I was in second grade I had the most godawful crush on Almanzo Wilder. I thought he was so strong, so grown-up, so...manly.

*points and laughs at Jensational*
Even with his icky mug on the cover of Book 3...? He always looked to me like a queeny John Travolta. Wait. Oxymoron.
I was more of a Bill Chase gal.
p.s. Wolf was awesome.

I kind of liked Bruce Patman when he was dating that one girl and he stopped being a dick. What was her name? Didn't she die?

Was it Regina something? Wasn't she blind or something? I kind of liked him then too. Couldn't really get on with the Todds and the whoevers that Elizabeth dated - they were just wet blankets.
Topic? Been recently re-blown away by Heathcliff. I know he's not very nice but it's not his fault. On a less emotional level, there's always Jack Reacher (Lee Child novels) - ex-military, very logical and straightforward, probably got great biceps.
