Chipper Jones? I feel like Britney still speaks with a southern accent too.

Larry the Cable Guy, or Jeff Foxworthy?

Thanks for the suggestion. They seemed like a good fit at first, but I don't think they'll work. Both Larry and Jeff make their livelihood off their accents (and I know it's also part of Paula's brand), and I'm extremely dubious about the nature of Larry's, since he's from Nebraska. I'm really looking for someone speaking in an unselfconscious way. I hate to use the word 'authentic' because most people glide in and out of ways of speaking during the course of the day.

Slightly related note- I had to call the Texas Franchise Tax people one day, and the guy I got on the phone was so sweet that I finally worked up the nerve to ask him if he'd mind 'y'all-ing' me because it had been so long since I'd heard it said right. He did it, but I'm pretty sure he thought I was a total nut case. Not so sure he was wrong about that, but I also got my client's issue resolved so I managed to accomplish my mission. Even though he looks like the guy you'd sit far away from on a bus, I love Billy Bob Thornton's voice. Maybe you could check out some old Designing Women/ Hearts Afire/ Evening Shade episodes? I'm pretty sure some of those actors weren't faking the drawl.

Perhaps some of Ann Richards' speeches or Lewis Grizzard's pieces? Or Holly Hunter?

Andy Griffith sounded in real life like he did on his show. His early recording "What It Was Was Football" is a bit exaggerated, though.

Back in 1989, when I worked at a music store, we always fought over who got to call Peavey (amp company in Meridian,MS), because we loved the voice of the operator when she answered the phone with "Thank yeeooo for cawlin' Peavey!"

What about Holly Hunter or Sissy Spacek? Although I don't think Sissy's accent IRL is strong, but I still hear it. Oh! That reminds me, Loretta Lynn. James Lipton said something about her accent one time, and I can't remember exactly what he said, but basically he described her accent as being unselfconscious/authentic and I certainly agree. And thinking of Loretta Lynn leads me to Dolly Parton. That's all I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

I think Dolly or Loretta might be great!
And to clarify, I'm not just looking for a drawl or accent, or the type of speech that would look fine written but is pronounced with a regional variation, I would love to find someone who speaks with the markers of nonstandard speech like, "seent" "aint" or atypical sentence structures but who isn't already a character, if that makes sense.

Kellie Pickler? I know she's not particularly bright, so I'd imagine she likely has retained any bad grammar and country-isms she may have had pre-American Idol.
Otherwise, You Tube would probably be the place to go for unvarnished English. I don't know the YouTube "stars" to give any specific suggestions.
