Grammarians! Is it "A eureka moment" or "An eureka moment"? I went with the first option but don't the rules of grammar say that "an" precedes a vowel? It should be “a eureka moment” because it’s the sound at the beginning of the word, not the actual letter, that determines which article you use. Vowel sounds get “an” and consonant sounds get “a.” Eureka has a Y sound at the beginning so it gets the a.

Yes, just like honest is “an honest mistake” even though it starts with a consonant.

Sweet buttery Jeebus, thank you!!
I keep seeing “a honor” in print, and it puts my teeth on edge!
I’d rather read entire paragraphs consisting of “Irregardless, yore rong!”

The Library has a grammatical error on their curbside pickup sign and it's making me grind my teeth. It's insulting enough that curbside pickup is a concept, do they have to have 'Friday's' and not 'Fridays' in the sentence 'the Library is closed on Friday's'?

I am tired. I will slink off to bed now....

When did it become so common to say "whenever" instead of "when?" I feel like it happened over night. I started noticing it a few months ago and assumed it was a regionalism and now I hear it everywhere.

I guess it's spread? I hate it.

I don’t understand - how is it used? I haven’t heard this and some uses of when change the meaning of the sentence.
“When I went to the market” v “whenever I went to market” - kind of same but moves from specific instance to general.
