I took Woman in Cabin 10 out of the library but never got to read it, I have to put a hold on that one again. Did anyone read Into the Water, the new-ish book from the author of Girl on the Train? I tried to get into it, but couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. I'm just wondering if it gets better or if Girl on the Train was a fluke. I had the same experience. I borrowed Into the Water from the library, read the first couple of chapters and put it down out of boredom. I didn't love Girl on the Train but it was compulsively readable. I think it helped that it had a straight forward mystery. Into the Water i think was trying to be more ambitious but it was all over the place. I don't think the author has the chops for what she was attempting.

I thought Girl on the Train was a very readable thriller with a dumb, Lifetime Movie ending. Paula Hawkins probably wanted to churn out another bestseller right away and cash in, and at the same time prove that she's more highbrow than she is.

Little snippets of drowned people who had nothing in common except the location of their drowning didn't draw me in enough to keep reading to the point where the actual story (presumably) started. Glad it wasn't just me.

I didn't like Into The Water at all. I'm pissed I paid for it.

I just finished The Royal We - written by the GoFugYourself admins/TWOP veterans Jessica (best X-File recaps ever) and Heather(aka Heathen)
It's sooo good! They promoted it so much that I was a little turned off when it was first released, but I've kept it in the back of my mind, and I'm glad I did. It is seriously JUST RIGHT for Greecies. Highly recommended.

Can anyone recommend a book (romance, memoir, literary fiction, "women's fiction", etc.) that has a story about adults who had dated as teenagers and then broke up and then reacquainted later? It doesn't have to be a rekindling of a romance, but a past romance should be a theme. It also could be a kindle book...
Thanks in advance!

It's not a straight narrative, but maybe The Time Travelor's Wife? Or maybe The Far Pavilions by M.M.Kaye (not sure if a sweeping historical epic would fit your criteria). The Emily series by L.M. Montgomery? And I don't remember which Anita Shreve title, but there is one where now middle-aged lovers reunite (with a twist to the plot at the very end). Are you looking for more contemporary literature? Because I'm sure I've read stuff like that, but nothing memorable enough to recall specific titles.... ETA: Just thought of one that is a bit old fashioned but otherwise would fit your criteria. Spring Came on Forever, by Bess Streeter Aldrich.

I totally forgot about the Far Pavilions--I loved that book.
Thanks, stargirl. I was browsing tags on GoodReads and a lot of the books that were tagged were along the lines of high school sweethearts who broke up at 17 or 18, and then reunited at 23 or so. I'm really looking for something about young love with a fast forward to people who carry around a bit more and who have lived life, if that makes sense. I'll look into the Anita Shreve title!

I love mysteries. Tell me some authors you enjoy and I'll make some suggestions.
