I can't believe I live in a world that has a LJ community devoted to Hitler slash.

To continue on the wrongness of Hitler-related fanfic, I visit Pottersues, which posts particularly heinous Mary-Sues. About a week ago, this was the fic of the day. I think I have seen all the Internet has to offer me now.

I think I have seen all the Internet has to offer me now. *reaches for the Dramamine* I think this reaffirms my decision to stop reading fanfic, for the most part. Unless the author is well established and the majority of readers don't run screaming when their name is mentioned, it's not worth reading anymore.

ETA that I have just discovered that there are people who write Marvin Gaye fic shipping him with HIS DAUGHTER NONA. Yes, romantically. Would the Apocalypse please arrive now, because I am losing my will to live. Someone give me a reason to live! Eeeeeewwww. I've read a lot of incest fic in the Star Wars genre-Luke/Leia, and Leia/Jaina (Jaina being Han's and Leia's daughter). One really interesting slash fic I read involved Wedge Antilles going back in time and getting it on with a young Obi-Wan Kenobi. Which is kind of squicky when you remember that Denis Lawson is Ewan McGregor's uncle. Or the time I read a fic that involved Padme/JarJar, or Padme jerking off one of the animals from her home planet. *shudder* That's just so fucking WRONG. I'm not a slash-writer, but I like to read it. I write some fan fiction, but I generally am not that prolific, sadly. I loathe real people fic, unless we're talking historical figures. Other sub-genres: Angst-basically, putting your characters in very sucky situations and watching them suffer. Hurt/comfort-pretty obvious. Someone gets hurt, another character comforts them. AWBH-Anywhere But Here: written in second person ("You wake up that morning and slap off the alarm clock, groaning.) Usually sexually explicit.

I can't quite believe that the Hitler slash community is serious. Are there really that many people out there who (1) like to write sex scenes with Hitler in them and (2) are willing to admit this to anybody, even over the Internet?
Could someone with a stronger stomach than I check it out?

Okay, Jenny. This is from their info page:
I was really hoping that this is the result of history grad students' exhaustion and twisted sense of humour, because it does sound like some of the crazier tropes we used to go off on (Bobby Kennedy and Roy Cohn totally loved each other!) but then I saw this in a post from a mod:
So I've lost that hope.

What?! Just...what?! Just when I think I may one day run out of reasons to weep for humanity, humanity offers the world Hitler/Slash. (And I'm so glad they explained that "master race" single entendre. It might have gone over my head otherwise, and wouldn't that have sucked.) Jeez, I know tastes vary, but it seems totally amazing to me that most people's sociopathic, mass-murdering tyrant can actually be other people's stud-muffin

Slashers are a playful, experimental bunch, so it doesn't surprise me that stuff like Hitler slash exists. The writers and writers probably take it the same way as one would take playing one's favorite video game. Fun and time-consuming, but not belonging in the real world by any means. Though of course, some people get way into their favorite video games...

I guess this is a better place than the True Confessions thread to bring up my desire to write my great Simpsons/Arthur (from PBS Kids) crossover spectacular. Someday I'll get off my ass and do it, since I've been toying with the idea for awhile.
I have such fabulous goals.
