I once saw a Golden Girls/Who's the Boss crossover fan fic. Rest assured it was all PG, but it was still an entire website devoted to Who's the Boss fan fic. I felt so embarassed for those people.
ETA: Good GOD, that was nasty. (the MJ NC17 thing). Someone should send THAT to the "godawful fan fic" linked above.
I'm going to post it at the Bad Porn LJ community!

This is, I suppose, a variation on real person slash: historical slash. I'm not horrified, but it's a little unsettling seeing great figures in history slashed, like Civil War generals or the founding fathers. That is incredibly fucking weird. And for some reason Alexander Hamilton is really popular over there. I don't even know how to put into words how little I get it. That is so alien to me it's like writing Hubble/Voyager slash (although it wouldn't surprise me if somebody out there has already done that...).

If the biography from a couple of years ago is anything to go by, Alexander Hamilton slash is not a huge leap of imagination from reality. The Hamilton/Jefferson stuff is just no, but AH's descendants (children, grandchildren) judged some of his correspondence with other men (including the Marquis de Lafayette) as being much too flowery and intense even by the standards of the day and did their best to redact the most "incriminating" passages before publishing his letters. Hamilton also nearly derailed his career due to his involvement with a married woman and there were rumblings about his wife's sister, so if you ever encounter more...interesting historical fan fiction about his love life, now you'll know that it isn't solely due to the cachet of being killed in a duel or the makeover of his ten-dollar bill portrait.

Wow, historic slash is...very strange. I didn't know it was possible to say you shipped Lewis/Clark with a straight face.
I'm a huge history nut and I'm interested in anything about the founding fathers, but I don't think I could bring myself to read a story about Washington and Jefferson going at it after a long hard day of writing the constitution. Though it really does amuse me that Alexander Hamilton is so popular for some reason. Poor kid was the baby of the group -- he just wanted to hang out with the cool kids.

Well, I can understand finding historical figures attractive, sort of (what? WHAT?). In my high school AP history class, we pretty much universally decided William Jennings Bryan was hot. I was just sorta marveling at the casual descriptions, like "I usually write Continental Congress fic" or "Hall/Jefferson, some Adams/Hancock/Thomson." I don't know why this cracks me up so much.

So I'm cruising around of fanfiction.net and came away from it with the knowledge that I live in world where there is Garfield fanfic.
Garfield. Fan. Fic.
I did not need to know this. Who in the hell reads Garfield and, with visions of lasagna and Nermal dancing through their heads, thinks to themselves: "Man, this is just crying out for a fic."
Probably the same people who write Bugs Bunny slash. [/Sideshow Bob shudder]

I am addicted to writing fan fic. Thank goodness for spell check!
<---- I wonder if anyone can possibly guess what fanficdom I am stuck in? I'm trying to get out. It's just there are little plot bunnies jumping around in my head wanting me to write. I don't want to.
It's just sad sad sad. How do I escape?
Of course it thrills me to my toes when I get reviews which read: OMG OMG! This is such a god story !!!!11!11!!!
Plus I am one person shy of being on 60 peoples fave authors list over at ff.net! But I'm stopping! I swear! I am not writing anymore.

Does anyone know of any good Harry Potter fic that focuses on angsty Snape, preferable post-Goblet of Fire? He's the only character I really like.
