Ah, a place to discuss the Boards that Shall Not Be Named. I actually haven't been back that often, but I think the writers still have some good ideas.

I love the 10 Least Essential Films of .... Good feature and usually they are right on. I also like 2 Stars, One Slot.

I do miss the forums, but I am definitely concentrating more on work these days! I think the mods were a bit worn down. The forums just got huge.

Well, That Place has returned from "spring break" and there's new content. Anyone else finding that piece to be a total head-scratcher? Oh well.

ETA: Okay, after re-reading that, I'll concede that the contact lens one was kinda funny, otherwise...meh

I get frustrated with the Daily Polls. Today it happens to be about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, but 9 times out of 10 it's something to do with a t.v. show and I don't watch much t.v. So usually the question is meaningless to me.

I totally didn't get the Cinderella Man thing. I also don't know what Cinderella Man is though, so maybe that's part of it.

This topic is just cracking me up. I seriously lurked on FT for years before ever registering. I think I posted a total of about 10 times due to the fact that it would have just pissed me off to no end if I made a mistake and got reprimanded by the queen. That and I think I was actually a bit scared of her. Which pissed me off even more. I had no idea every once else felt the same way. It always seemed that she had many admirers to me.

The thread I thought odd was "Give the FT writers some love" or something to that effect. Then posters would chime in, basically telling them how great they thought an article was, how much they enjoyed the latest Galaxy of Fame, how smart and witty Wing was, etc... I had never seen anything like that before, where board admin's beg for a pat on the back.

I never have thought parody was the FT strong suit. That's their weakness, actually. They totally rock at their analysis of popcult, which is supposedly the reason for the site's being, anyway. They should stick to that.

Thank you. There was a thread devoted to kissing the moderator's ass, and yet, I got banned for criticizing an article I thought was just a little too bit on the crude/cruel side. So you could be safe and kiss ass or you could criticize and get kicked out.

(And I got sick of the way when WC made a comment on a thread, you could just count on this: for 3 pages it would just be all posts from people telling her how witty her comment was and how much they agreed. It got ridiculous, this rule by fear.)
