I used to go to PX This just for the trainwreck value. I can't recall ever posting there though. Finding this place was like finding a really soft, comfortable chair... that has funny shit written all over it. Or something.
It is hard to believe it's been a year. I registered on March 8th. I will definitely have some cake that day!
The Your Mom thread was pretty good too, but you're right Toph, nothing can beat the Jesus thread.
"Is only famous because of his dad".

Can someone provide a timeline of the shutdown and shift? I was out of town when it happened, but I remember coming back and being really mad that it happened before they said it would. Then I found this place!
Isn't there a way to see the Jesus thread somewhere?

I found the Jesus thread here. Awwww... I clicked on the link provided by tennisfan and started reading the Last One Out thread. I don't recommend it. Even though I am 1,000 times happier here, it brings back a lot of the sadness I felt last year thinking that I wouldn't talk to many of my friends again. Of course I was wrong. Wait.. who's that posting on Page One, thanking everyone and already missing TheJakes and Calvin?? None other than Topher. I love you guys.

Then I found this place! Isn't there a way to see the Jesus thread somewhere? You can find it here: one of the Yahoo groups created at the time of the big meltdown. I don't know if you need to subscribe, but give it a try. There are other saved threads.

Awww. It's been a year? I feel all warm and fuzzy. I loved Fametracker and went there every day. I only got one warning for not linking properly so I was OK with it but I must admit that at times it felt too cliquey. When it went down, I went to the PX site but felt blinded by the colors and don't think I ever posted and then I googled Famtracker forums in google groups and sometime listed out all of the various options for new homes for us and I went to this one and loved it.
Now I must go re-read the Jesus thread.

It's so weird to read that Jesus thread and see all of those names that I recoginize. It's even weirder to see all of those names I don't recognize, which just brought home to me how much FT changed in its last year.
The reason that FT closed early is because the threads utterly exploded (I'm sure the Jesus thread helped). I remember one of Wing's close friends (you all know who I mean) saying, "Close this down NOW!" He then berated us all for our bad manners, because it was like she invited us into her home and we shit on her floor. Except that she was adament that it remain a business, so really, it was more like going into Barnes and Noble and shitting on their floor.
Not that shitting on the floor is ever an acceptable response to a negative situation.
ETA: Clearly, mrpancake and I have similar memories.

God, the meltdown was fun. So was the site, generally, while it lasted. Except for certain posters who totally kissed ass the whole time and acted superior due to their personal relationship with Wing and Glark. I loved when people called that poster on his shit. So funny. No, it wasn't like going into someone's home and pissing on their rug. I liked FT despite those annoying posters, the mods, and all the other stuff they wrote. I only ever visited the forums with an occasional glance at the other stuff.
The only thing I miss about Fametracker now is the layout/coloring. I've gotten used to this one, but I still don't like it. I'm ungrateful...sorry to pee on your rug.
ETA: Wow, Ripley, we wrote the exact same thing at the exact same time. That is crazy. Something that would only happen with the kinship of CPMCoG. And I am dying at the shitting on Barnes and Noble's floor. BWAH!

Clearly this was a hate crime.
That's not what a hate crime is.
Well... I hated it!!!
Whooo... nearly random Office humor never gets old.
I hear y'all about bstewart, but his open letter to Russell Crowe was awesome. Mondo bitchtits, indeed.

Oh and that PX site was hilarious! I rue the day I postponed saving that flame thread, only to find the board shut down some time later. *snicker* I was and will always be bitter about the FT closure because I had only just gotten into my groove there. There were so many threads left to be read..... I felt cheated frankly. I followed Moldy over here and been here since.
