I love these books. I have read Sloppy Firsts probably 3+ times, and Second Helpings at least twice. I love Jessica; I have lent this book to several friends and they always come back with the same thing: "She sounds just like you!" I guess that's part of it.
Anyway, I guess Megan McCafferty is writing a third book, and I can't WAIT. What do you guys think?

Love these books; they echo my high school experience so perfectly.
Any word on what the third one is coming out?

LOVE. So much love. Picked up Sloppy Firsts a few years ago and liked it enough, but wasn't in a huge rush to get the second one. Then for some reason I read it again later, became obsessed, and ran to the bookstore to get Second Helpings. Can't wait for the third one, though I'm kind of worried that because Jessica has already obtained the hotness that is Marcus Flutie, it'll kinda go the way of TV shows that do the same thing and jump the shark. I'm sure Megan McCafferty can make it not-lame, though.

I want Jessica to have an annoying roommate in college and not pledge a sorority. I don't know, I can almost see how the college thing will go for her, and can't wait to see how it was played out.
The end of the 2nd book kind of pissed me off, because though her going off to college made way for a third book, so many loose ends were tied up in the 2nd book. I didn't like how we met Hope, because I thought it was kind of cool that Hope was just this ideal to Jessica, like we could only see Hope through Jess's eyes. Also, the end was tied up too neatly w/ Hope getting involved in the Marcus mess.
Eh, I don't know. All I do know is that I have never read a book that sounded more like myself. Ha!

Oh, I love these books! I have to pick the next one up the next time I'm at a bookstore/library. Carrier76, when you read it, tell me if it's any good!

I picked up the third book the day it came out, and it is totally fab, but a little different than the first two books. (Very minor spoilers about the timeline ahead.) << The book takes place over Jessica's entire time in college, but she only writes during winter/summer breaks. Because of this, there's more information to take in, but less details. >> I didn't think this detracted from the book at all, however.
And Marcus, of course, can always be counted upon to be swoon-worthy.

I really didn't like Charmed Thirds. I thought Jessica became very unsympathetic in this book. She seemed very cold and unsympathetic toward other people; which I guess she always was, based on Bridget's observation about how she was too self-centered to notice that Bridget and Pepe were dating, but Jessica just seemed...nasty in this book. In Sloppy Firsts and Second Helpings, she seemed like the cool friend Hyacinth portrayed her as in "Assembly Line Meatballers and Bubblegum Bimbos," but in Charmed Thirds, she just seemed kind of bitchy and insensitive.
