I DVR'd both episodes but I'm glad to know that people enjoyed them (for the most part)!

I can't wait to watch them tonight on tape! Then I have to decide if I should even dare to watch Road Virus. Something about haunted pictures is just ultra-creepy; I got scared by "The Sun Dog" novella about the camera too.

I can't wait to watch Road Virus. I'm fully expecting to be scared shitless and love it.
The graphics in End of the Whole Mess were so cool, and turning Howie into a filmmaker instead of writer was a great idea. That way they could replicate his losing it with his voice and expressions rather than with his writing.

Aw, I loved Elliott and Office Space in "The End of The Whole Mess". That was very creatively directed.

I like Umney's Last Case as well. It was more of a quiet story than a freaky supernatural one. William H. Macy kicked ass.
It's also very King-like: the death of a child, the writer and subject relationship, etc.

Arrrrgh! I only got "Umney's Last Case" on the TiFaux. There's one other episode airing some time today/tonight that I told the DVR to get; hopefully it'll be "The End of the Whole Mess." Foo!!!

turning Howie into a filmmaker instead of writer was a great idea. That way they could replicate his losing it with his voice and expressions rather than with his writing. That was VERY cool - but here's what I liked about it. After it ended, I grabbed my copy of the book and turned to the end of the story, where Howie's writing out what happened to him and Bobby instead of videotaping it. And the garbled writing, the regrets, their trying to spell out the apologies, their trying to tell each other "I love you" and "I'm sorry" somehow translates out perfectly into the movie version. I know I'm not making sense, but HT and RL both got the whole rapid degeneration down perfectly from book to film. As they were talking to each other, and then RL alone at the end talking to the camera, you could almost sense their brains just completely melting away.

Thanks to the very superfly heyalice, I've been reading Mr. King's next opus Lisey's Story and I'm actually reading it slowly and savoring it instead of ripping through it to find out what happens, that's how good it is. It has echoes of Bag of Bones and "Secret Window, Secret Garden" so far (I'm only about 1/2 through) but is also very fresh and new. Props to the man himself.

Ok, so I managed to remember to watch last night. I haven't read either of the stories featured last night. The Road Virus Heads North was pretty creepy and well acted. But, I fell asleep at the beginning of Fifth Quarter so I pretty much missed the whole thing. I can't win.

I don't think you missed much. I found Fifth Quarter to be boring as hell and the acting was bad. I did think The Road Virus Heads North was creepy, but I didn't like Tom Berenger.
