The Fifth Quarter was totally boring, and I fell asleep halfway through it too. The Road Virus Heads North was TOTALLY scary! ( Poor Hobo! ) It was great, and very well acted and completely creepy! I am climbing the WALLS waiting for next week! The last of the episodes, and two of the three I've been waiting for (The End of the Whole Mess being the only one I've seen so far that I was dying to see from the beginning) - You Know They've Got a Hell of A Band and Autopsy Room Four - EEEEE!!!! I hope they're both great, because I feel like each week it's been one good, one not so good. But I'm excited - the only thing that could make me happier is if they decided to do an encore week with Home Delivery and Dolan's Cadillac together!

Well poo. Road Virus didn't scare me and I got all worked up for nothing. I wonder if TNT will do more if these are successful, ratings-wise. I'd love to see "Everything's Eventual" and "The Man in The Black Suit" (that's the name of it, right?) adapted. And yeah, "Dolan's Cadillac" would be killer.

The one I'd like to see is "Lunch at the Gotham Cafe." That was the most brutal portrayal of a break-up ever. It made War of the Roses seem like kid's play.

I missed the beginning 15 minutes of the first one (was caught up in the book I was reading and forgot). It was ok. I had a hard time getting past John Boy/Bill Denbrough lying there naked on the table.
I guess I was a little disappointed in 'You Know The Got A Hell of a Band." It was good, but reading the story was better. I think it was because I couldn't get past how OLD Steven Weber looked.

I was totally bored and disappointed by Autopsy Room Four. It was so overacted and cheesey - just hated it, and I really loved the book version. I was very excited about seeing this and wound up really hating it.
I have to say I didn't think You Know They've Got a Hell of a Band was all that bad. It wasn't totally what I was hoping for, but it didn't disappoint me entirely, and as I've mentioned here, that's a favorite King story of mine.
I liked the acting alot, I really think Kim Delaney and Steven Weber did a very good job. I think casting-wise, they did a fine job with getting actors who resembled the dead rock stars - hard to do with that many people, but they pulled it off.
One thing I didn't like was the kind of goofy, kooky music they played when Clarke and Mary are making a final run for the car and are being pursued by Janis, Ricky, Buddy and Roy. It just made the story seem instantly silly with that soundtrack, whereas if you read the book, that particular scene sounds like an extremely bizzare, yet terrifying and surreal experience - you're not sure if it's a nightmare or not. I think they lost that element with that little piece of "Isn't this Kooky?" music.
I also didn't like the fake out of the long road leading out of the town before the Magic Bus traps them by blocking the road. I get where they were going with it - the viewer is lulled in by the false sense of security for a few minutes, then WHAM. But I liked the book version better - it was just more exciting, more action-filled. In the book, they're making a run for it (at the part where they've run down Ricky Nelson twice), and right after that happens, just as they've passed the town common, the Magic Bus is blocking the main street on the other end of town. They never get out of town to begin with, and that's more fast paced and exciting.
The other thing they changed, but I did think it was an interesting twist, was Clarke obviously going into some sort of shock or denial at the end. The way he was "happy" to be staying in the town - you could see that he really wasn't, it was obvious they were pointing towards him being in shock or headed for a nervous breakdown. In the book, they're both scared and nervous, and they both know exactly what kind of situation they're in. This change was interesting because it makes you think how now, Mary has to keep it all together for both of them. They're no longer on equal footing in this nightmarish situation - she has to try and figure out if they can ever escape the town, if they can survive for however long they're trapped there, and on top of it all, she has to take care of her husband, who is clearly about to lose his sanity. Good twist in a way.

Oh, the hysterical voiceover in Autopsy Room Four made me wish they'd just slice into him and end it already. SHUT UP JOHN BOY! I dug the actress playing Janis Joplin though.

I listed to Cell on audiobook, and I have to admit, it really drew me in. AFTER about the first 1/3. The first 1/3 I was thinking "no, no, no - stop trying to be hip". Then it seemed like he relaxed and got back into his SK groove. It was gory and had a few too many glossed over assumptions or something - can't really explain what bugged me, but in the end I found it to be a good "read" and hard to put down (or press pause, as the case was).

I've been rereading The Long Walk this week, and...it doesn't seem that far-fetched anymore. Which is freaking me out. I'm going to reread The Running Man next since it's a similar premise and see how that makes me feel.
