Petals
I did the same thing w/ Children of the Corn. When I got to the part about killing off the grownups when they hit 18 years old, my teacher just cut me off and made me sit down. I was so ticked, b/c I was so sure everyone in the class would have fallen in love w/ King if they could only have heard the rest of this story. Rats!
iceblink
Don't let Mark Burnett read that story. It will be really happening, sooner than you think. *shiver*
I actually have part of Salem's Lot written in my first favorite quotes book (started when I was about 12). The part where Mark Petrie is lying in bed and thinking about the differences between adults and children, and how they handle nightmares and the boogie man. Excellent passage, and so true.
Speaking of The Boogy Man, and I said before, one of the creepiest SK stories ever. "Craws, Daddy. Craws!"
What was that short story about the guy who gets picked up in a restaurant by some chick (Nora? Nona?) and she turns into a rat? That story freaked me out, b/c I kept thinking how anyone could sink into the realm of madness and have no idea they were doing it until the end. Freaky.
BTW, one of the building names in Crouch End was Cthulhu-something.
I missed week four of the mini series b/c our power was out so the DVR didn't tape. It never picked up the repeat, either, so that kinda stunk. I was looking forward to They Got A Hell of a Band.
Oh, and I loved Henry Thomas in The End of the WHole Mess. As far as I'm concerned, Henry Thomas can do no wrong. He's one of the least recognized great actors out there, IMHO. But that's for another thread.
The only thing going for The Fifth Quarter was Jeremy Sisto and his stubble. Pretty, pretty.
The Road Virus painting was totally lame. The one I had pictured in my head will always be better. That's one thing that sucks about movie adaptions. I was wondering, though - why did whats-his-name decide he had to go out to the Road Virus' car? He ran away from him that whole time, then suddenly, after falling down the stairs, eh says, "Guess I gotta go outside now." Huh?!?
I was slightly advanced in my reading when I was younger. So when our 6th grade teacher asked for a book report about any book we wanted, I chose Christine. They were oral reports.
So I got up in front of my class and began to describe the book. And I left nothing out. Their little eyes got huge, and my teacher cut me off. It's a wonder she didn't call my mom and ask her if something was wrong with me.

I've been rereading The Long Walk this week, and...it doesn't seem that far-fetched anymore. Which is freaking me out.
