Why am I not surprised that his idea of research is rephrasing the information on Wikipedia searches. Well played, Frey. Moron.
Are book deals given out by lottery? Do they only read every 4th book submitted? How in the world did this crap get published?
On a semi-related note, a friend of mine online has this questionaire posted on her myspace page and under Favorite Book she has A Million Little Pieces and then says "I know it's all made up but it's still a really good book!" No. No it's not. It's poorly written, poorly researched and absolutely ridiculous in every way.

Shades of Milli Vanilli: you can get a refund if you bought the book before he revealed it was made up.Personally, I think this is ridiculous. You were a sucker if you believed Frey, but why should you get your money back? Tall tales are as old (older) than Gutenberg, but no one has ever been held financially liable for marketing them. (Selling phony diet plans or financial advice is a different story). Of course, I never understood the Milli Vanilli thing either. Supposedly they bought records because they liked the music - the fact that a couple of fat, ugly men made the music doesn't make the record worthless.

He's published again. I read a few pages of this in a bookstore the other day and found it to be appalling.

I read Bright Shiny Morning a few weeks back. I've never read any of his other books, but I actually ended up liking this one quite a bit. I've never had any issues with the guy either way, so maybe that helped me enjoy it more.
I've got no desire to read his earlier books, but if he writes another novel, I'll pick it up.
