Wasn't Jean West the cute little perfect girl that her jellus BFF kept out of the sorority? I liked that one.

But wait - isn't Tom McKay the guy Elizabeth went out with in SVU? But then he slept with Dana when he and Liz were broken up, and when Liz found out after they had gotten back together she dumped him for it?
I wish I hadn't given away my SVU books. Thanks to this thread, I've been craving all things Sweet Valley. I need my fix dag nabbit!

Sadly, I know without checking that Elizabeth's SVU guy was Tom Watts, not Tom McKay.

All things Sweet Valley are kind of fresh in my mind...I've been reading SVH, SVU & SVT books lately when I have nothing else to do. I re-read my kids books like Sweet Valley and Baby Sitters Club when I don't feel like starting a "real" book. Lately, I've just been in the mood for good old SV fluff.

Is it sad that I just put that recap sight in my favorites? Yes, yes it is.

Is it sad that I just put that recap sight in my favorites? Yes, yes it is. I know --mine's in my "general lit" folder. Is it postmodern or just a bit tragic ? These books were my crack as an 11 year-old (along with Fighting Fantasy --weird combination, huh?): I inherited a huge stash from a cousin interstate one summer, read through about 50 during 3 weeks at my nanna's, and kept on going from there. Two years later I threw them all out (but sneakily kept up the habit for another couple of years), since they were too embarrassing and unsophisticated for someone who'd discovered "real books" like V.C. Andrews, etc . I could kick myself for doing that now, and I've been buying back some of my favourites and later promising-looking ones (like the werewolf trilogy : for the last few years. While I was cleaning out my cupboards last weekend, I found Return of the Evil Twin . The plot's ridiculous even for SVH: Nora, the rich southern long-lost twin of dead Wakefield twin impersonator Margo, searches for her sister and winds up in Sweet Valley, where she learns Margo didn't actually die --she just tricked the paramedics by holding her breath for a really long time and then escaping after causing the ambulance to crash -- and then plots with her to replace both twins. But the funniest thing about it is that the fight between M&N which results in Nora mistakenly killing Margo is about who gets to be which twin: neither one wants to be "boring" Elizabeth, and the ghostwriter gets in a few jabs at her wardrobe and sexless relationship with Todd. Heh.

Oooh, you must recap that one, it sounds like gold. And if anyone gives you a hard time about reading SV just mutter some pretentious nonsense like you are rediscovering post modern irony of YA lit and then they will leave you alone.

Hmmm, there might be an Honours thesis in that, and one which doesn't involve reading Arabic (although the Enid books might be even more tedious)... ;D
