Damn it. I love the cheese factor of SVH and I'm bummed that the writing for 10 Years Later was so... subpar. I love how Liz thinks the worse thing in the world is yelling "I hate you" and throwing her Prada knockoff at things.
So is this set after the events of the Elizabeth series?

That first chapter was a bit.....odd. Maybe it's just a rough draft?
But let's remember it's only ONE chapter. I honestly didn't think it was that bad. So Liz has sex. I'm kind of glad because it would be a bit weird that she would be single, in her late 20's and still acting like the Liz of SVH. I didn't get the impression that she's turned into a slut or anything like that.
It's got me curious to know what's going on between Liz and Jessica. In fact, I think it would have been cool if the first chapter focused on Jessica instead of Liz. Wherever Jess is, you just know she is living it up.
And I'm ok with Liz and Bruce as BFF's. Just as long as they are not together in any romantic way.
And I'm curious about Lila as well. I know I read that supposedly a bunch of the characters were supposed to live in some kind of gated community, right? Maybe this is all leading up to that. I am still excited for this book.

I know! I'm almost surprised Liz didn't put on a cd of her favorite recorder music, or haul her recorder out to play, for the love of Prince Albert. And she had a doggie bag of a pork chop? I mean, I like a chop as much as the next girl, but given the detail that went into the pre-war apartment...a pork chop? Also, I'm going to have nightmares about Liz Wakefield crying after orgasm. Hee. Awesome. Also? Word. The idea of Elizabeth Wakefield having orgasms is terrifying. But OF COURSE it has to be awful for her in some way. I don't care what the chapter says - I'm willing to bet the crying is not at all out of the ordinary. But, man...that felt like fan fiction. Especially the part where they quoted the song lyrics (every time I've peeked at some fan fiction, half of it is quoted song lyrics). And yeah - pork chop. Nothing says New York glamour like a leftover pork chop. And boy, they laid it on even thicker than before when they did the obligatory description of the twins looks, didn't they? First, they added an inch to their height - they twins used to be 5'6", but here Liz is described as 5'7". And the eyes were compared to the fire in opals rather than the Pacific ocean. Then they pretty much said, "Fuck it - they're perfect. Picture the most perfect beautiful woman in the world, that's the Wakefield twins." Liz miserable in New York is boring. I want to know what that psychopath Jess is up to (and what she did to make doormat Liz stop talking to her). And Lila - whatever she's up to, I'm sure it's awesome.

Yeah, the whole thing feels like Retread Central. I mean, didn't we already do the Endless Pages of Liz Moping About Jess Ganking her Boyfriend in the gawd-awful Elizabeth series!?

They look pr0n-o-rific, don't they? But I'm so glad they used the original 80s retro block-bubble-letters fonts!

They've set up a website for the new bookTake quizzes! Read character bios! Learn about Francine Pascal! I took the quiz, and it is totally effed up - it said I'm a Jessica. Really? I know that I am (unfortunately) a seriously Lame Liz. I wanted to be a Lila.

I'm an Elizabeth. The quiz said this means I'm boring and yeah that's true. What a choice? To be a pushover or a borderline sociopath.
It wasn't until I got online did I discover I wasn't alone in my hatred for Elizabeth and Jessica. It seems most girls in my generation read these books even though they couldn't stand those two!

I wrote some of the character bios for the site. I'm such a total Elizabeth.
