I was obsessed with these growing up. The company reprinted them a few years ago and I bought them all and they now have a place of honour on my bookshelves. However, they updated them and now the boys talk about email and George uses a computer instead of a stock ticker to check his stocks.
I think my favourite was MacDonald Hall Goes Hollywood because I loved the complete crazy fanaticism of the girls (who here absolutely wanted to be Cathy Burton's roommate?). The trip to Algonquin Park just killed me, too. It's seriously one of my favourite fiction books of all time.
So who else loves them? Or hates them, if you must.

Oh, I loved them. I had a sort of a crush on Boots (don't ask me why) and really felt for him, being unable to stand up in the face of Bruno's crazy ideas. I loved the one where all the boys were collecting tin cans and storing them in an empty dormitory, I think because the school was having financial difficulties, the idea being that setting a world record for the largest tin can pyramid would bring lots of publicity to the school and convince parents to send their kids there.
Gordon Korman came to a nearby library a year ago, so a couple of friends and I went to hear him talk. The funny thing was that almost everyone in the audience were in their 30's or older, obviously original fans from the 70's or early 80's! There was a group of women who came with huge bags filled with the original printed copies for him to autograph; they told him that they sent him a congratulations card when they saw in his author bio. that he'd gotten married. (I guess they were around 12 or so when he first started writing, and they had a bit of a crush. It was really funny).

I got the boxed set of Korman books in 1978 when I was ten for Christmas (McDonald Hall, Go Jump in the Pool, Beware the Fish, and the first Bugs Potter). Seriously, it was my favourite present, I loved them. I used to laugh out loud reading his books. I loved I Want to Go Home and the one with the twins working at the hotel as well.

I love Gordon Korman! One of these days, I'm going to change my name to G. Gavin Gunhold. I so wanted to go to a boarding school. The updated books suck - I went on eBay and got all the old versions. The art work on the covers was so beautiful, and Boots on "Go Jump In the Pool!" was just plain HOT (no pedo)!
