PP, I can't WAIT to talk this book over with you! YAY! And eleanor, I make appointments at the various libraries that hold copies of the original mss and spend a lot of time squinting at microfiche! I'll be spending a chunk of time this spring at the one in West Branch with Rose's and Laura's letters and stuff, too. You generally have to be a grad student/scholar with an ID to access the stuff, and include an application of the project you're working on before they let you at 'em. And before any of my stuff on LH comes out, I have to finish writing it first, dammit! I actually had a paper ready to be published in a critical book that never came about. But I should have this Kunstlerroman stuff finished this year, so mebbe in a couple years I'll have an actual book instead of stray articles.... Hey, PP, any pointers?

Well, need to get through it first. Damn, RWL was one busy lady! I feel woefully undertravelled and I was born 100 years later! Write a mediocre... oh wait, that's for theses. Just keep swimming?

I'm currently reading Free Land by RWL and I'm very curious about the relationship between David Beaton (who I believe is written to resemble Almanzo) and Nettie Peters (who I believe is written to resemble Laura Ingalls). Since David is already married to Mary, his relationship with Nettie (given her age) seems a bit unseemly. Any theories, y'all? I'm only just half way through, so I don't know how it all ends.

Wait until you finish, then we'll discuss. Have you read My Antonia by Willa Cather...?

You guys know about the Little House on the Prairie musical? It's playing at the Guthrie in Minneapolis.

That silence you hear is all the air at Dwan's house rushing out just before her head explodes.
