Thanks, Dwan and Auroranorth, I just reserved "Becoming..." and the cookbook at the library. I'm already drooling!

I haven't read Becoming but I love the cookbook! I do recommend reading it with a snack- drool does nothing for the pages.

My people! I love LHotP love! I used to want to try maple syrup snow candy so bad. I was fascinated by their lifestyle which differs so much from ours. I know I'm in the minority, but Ma annoyed me at times. Her prejudice for Indians, her saying that only foreign women did manual labor...in town. Mary also annoyed me. She was so prissy. I felt like her going blind robbed Laura of some of her childhood. So many things she wanted to do, but didn't because she must be Mary's eyes.
LHotP books are practically the only books I read as a child, that I can still read as an adult. I can't imagine rereading The Babysitters Club.

It is lots of fun to play the game they do sometimes on the TWOP LH boards, "Bite me, RL Ma!" and "Bite me, RL Mary!" Like, "Modulate your voice, Laura. Remember, 'her voice was ever low and gentle, a beautiful thing in woman.'" Oh, Bite me, RL Ma!
Who's read The Wilder Life?

I'm on the list for it at library! It seems everyone else in Minneapolis and Hennepin County wants to read it, too.

I'm number six in line, and I've been waiting forever. Can't wait to read it.

I read it! It was a fun read and made me want to go on a LHotP pilgrimage (not to the same extent as the author, though).

I just started reading "Little House in the Big Woods" to my four year-old niece today. She's loving it. I have the copies from when I was a child....they were $1.70.
