works for both a British royal family member and for her Italian heritage on her dad's side. This is exactly why I like it.

Absolutely hate the name. It (and Vienna) were all over the baby naming boards when I was pregnant with my son a decade and a half ago. Very popular among uneducated Red State basics who wanted to seem exotic, IIRC. Ugh. ...like the sausages? The classic comment that I remember about Vienna was: "I love it - sounds Italian!"

I think Sienna is one of the prettiest name choices in the BRF. And yes works perfectly for both her UK and Italian sides.
Her mother’s was one of the ugliest name choices for me, Beatrice. What a thing to do to a child, especially when the choice had initially been Annabel which is quite a pretty name indeed. Not a big fan of Harry or Henry as a name either but at least it has royal history.
Camilla, Charles, Diana, Louis, are my favourite BRF and BRF adjacent names, which strike a great balance between sounding nice and being regal without stuffy.

I think the queen nixxed Annabel for sounding too middle class. When I was pregnant the second time around we didn't know what gender the baby would be so we had our names ready. Beatrice/Beatrix was on my short list. We wanted something classic that could be shortened to something cute, but also could be taken seriously. We ended up with a different old lady name that starts with G (don't worry she's not Gertrude)

I thought the Queen nixed Annabel as a name because she associated it with Annabel’s nightclub, named after Lady Annabel Goldsmith (born Vane-Tempest-Stewart, formerly Birley).

Both the names Beatrice and Eugenie have grown on me over the years tho I do remember thinking they were awful names for children at the time but they suit them now as adults. I can’t imagine either as Elizabeth /Mary (Bea middle names) or Victoria ( Eug middle name but I could imagine her as Helena her other middle name).
I remember the Annabel nightclub story too.
