I don’t like both names but I really hate Beatrice. Never did like the name at all. I felt sorry for both girls being saddled with those names. Not all classic names are good names.

One of my cats is named Beatrice and she is an angel. I call her Bea and Bebe for short. I am sad that the transformational power of my cat's sweet personality can't reach those of you who don't like the name and fill you with her soft, radiant light.

Beatrice was one of Queen Victoria's daughters, and Eugenie was the middle name of her daughter, Victoria Eugenie. So Andrew and Sarah chose family names.
I like the name Beatrice. I'm not keen on the name Eugenie though.

@lizzibeth I’m glad you didn’t go for Gertrude, but if you went for Greta or Grace those actually are 2 of my favourite names. I imagine every Greta with soulful brown eyes and every Grace to be, well, graceful. prisma I actually do like it for a cat or dog. But then there are lots of names that I think are bad on humans that are very sweet on pets.

Well my Agatha cat and I agree Beatrice is a great cat name. And if she ever allows another cat to adopt me I’d be tempted and then continue with alphabet....Agatha Cat, Beatrice, Charles, Dorothy, Edwin, Fredrick Cat ... But judging by her yelling and hissing at every and any other cat that dares pass her path, she’s not giving up her now only cat status easily

I think that Beatrice and Eugenie aren't easy names to carry as modern children, but they work well on adults.

I don't know about Eugenie, but Beatrice is coming back in. I've had a couple of elementary age students with the name the past few years, including a Bea last year (who was a great all around kid, so the name has positive and more youthful connotations for me now, instead of seeing it as an old lady name).

I've encountered a couple of Eugenias here and there. IMO that sounds more pleasant. I've seen Eugenie referred to as Eug on this site. Is that really her nickname? 'Cause that is unfortunate.

According to what I've read, yes. And agreed, not the prettiest nickname.
