I have decided to get Mr. Ladybug a pasta-maker for Xmas. Any suggestions for models you like, brands to stay away from, etc? I have seen several choices on Amazon, but I can't decide if I should go with a manual or electric. Last year I received a three piece pasta set for my Kitchen Aid mixer, if you have that option. It included the roller, spaghetti cutter, and fettuccine cutter. I really enjoy it and homemade pasta is so yummy. I eventually got a ravioli press, so I made the sheets in the roller and then made the ravioli. Even if you don't have the Kitchen Aid option, I'd still recommend electric. I know a couple of people with manual rollers, and the pasta turns out great, but it does require some decent manpower to make large quantities - they take turns. I got this set off of woot a few weeks ago, I've only used it once, but it tastes excellent.

At the post office yesterday I was behind a woman chatting on the phone. Her end of the conversation was essentially this thread: she didn’t know what to get a whole bunch of people she didn’t know well, so Starbucks gift cards for her kid’s teachers and gift sets from Bath and Bodyworks for I guess her coworkers. “You know, scented lotions, a candle, maybe some antibacterial gel.”
I told Mr Cho that I wanted an IKEA shopping spree for Christmas. We went to Ikea on Monday (a 2 hour drive each way) and I paid for a shitwack of things so I guess it’s not that. And then yesterday he told me that whatever he bought was out of stock. That’s cool, I need new running shoes.

I agree Bath and Body Works stuff is always welcome. I don't really like Starbucks so I reject the gift cards. I find that a lot of people don't drink coffee and the ones that do drink coffee hate Starbucks. I love Cost Plus World Market for gifts - food, kitchen, bath, furniture, toys, candy, wine, beer, coffee, tea, relatively cheap and cheerful. I did most of my shopping in one quick Sunday morning at World Market. I was very pleased with myself.

Evidently, Reddit runs a Secret Santa exchange every year and Bill Gates participates. I would like to know why Bill Gates is not my Secret Santa. I had no idea he had a sense of humor. Read the full account and see photos here.

Remember when we were talking about how you buy a scented candle for a coworker you don't like and that's what I bought Work Nemesis? Well, guess what she got me?

My sister gets us a box of Zabar's bagels every year. $30 for 18 including shipping and they freeze really well.

I buy everyone in my family fancy cheeses. I’ve spent around $200 on cheese and my shopping is done. My parents love it because they don’t want any more stuff and it feeds them for about six weeks.

Any suggestions for a bronze anniversary gift? I'd like it to be household-oriented, not specifically "for" Mr Chonies but something we could use somehow, and preferably something handmade or repurposed. I've been combing through Etsy and coming up with nothing much.
