I am totally fascinated by this site. Again, I tend to be a "well....here's an explanation..." kind of a girl, but I love these kind of stories.

Yes I have to say: it's insanely freaky, although my final thought is that his dead girlfriend is not actually haunting him through Facebook Chat But a really well done Gotcha, you have to admit! Like a good horror movie. I'll be sad if it's some super savvy movie tie-in, like the marketing stuff done for Blair Witch Project.

(taps desk nervously)
So, um, er...is there a(nother) psychic in the house?
I need insight into a personal matter. It is not of a TMI or traumatic nature exactly, but death/end of life issues are involved. All of my reader friends are out of town or unavailable, so I thought I'd try the Greecie crowd. Please PM if you will take a question.

Last weekend a friend and I stayed at The Stanley Hotel. We got the "haunted package" that came with an EMF meter (hee!) and they put us on the fourth floor, which is supposed to be the most haunted. We were hanging out in our room, settling in, chatting and catching up. (She lives in San Francisco and I haven't seen her since November.) She had thrown the EMF meter to me at some point and I had it on the bed with me. I was telling her about something stupid that had happened recently and dropped the f bomb. Omg. That thing went up to the red area. It was hilarious. Both of us kept trying to see if it was voice/pitch activated somehow. Couldn't figure it out. It occasionally dipped into the yellow, but nothing crazy happened. We even went on the night "ghost" tour. I SO wanted something to happen, because I'm the Scully out of the two of us (I've never watched the X-Files, but she said I'm the non-believer, haha), but, alas, it never did. Unless you count the hokey stuff that happened during the tour. So silly. Although. They did have this weird, very steep staircase that was roped off next to our room. SUPER dark. (From the outside of the hotel, it looks like it goes to this little tower room. But what's in THERE?! ) When you look up, all you can see is a white door (in the ceiling-ish, almost like a trap door, but full sized). I took a picture and they had written "REDRUM" in some paint, or whatever, that only showed up in a picture. haha. Not to the naked eye at ALL! That was pretty cute. No good stories, though. Sigh!

When I was reading about of the making of Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining, I was surprised to find out that wasn't the Stanley Hotel at all in the movie. The interiors were all movie sets in England, the exterior was a mountain lodge in Oregon, and the long road at the beginning of the movie was actually Going-to-the-Sun road in Glacier National Park in Montana.

Hey! We stayed there in March! I saw that staircase and was dying to see what was up there, but Mr. Smee wouldn't let me. I don't remember if I took a picture or not. I still need to look at all my pictures from the ghost tour to see if I caught any. Did anybody's lollipop move in that little room in the music building? Mine didn't, but someone else's did and they freaked out. Mr. Smee downloaded a "ghost finder" app on his phone and was finding them all over the place and telling me where to point the camera (he's a skeptic, so I think he was just humoring me.) We stayed on the third floor because I wanted a jacuzzi tub. No ghosts in evidence unfortunately. eta: Reviewed the pictures. No ghosts per se, but I did get this one of Mr. Smee on the ghost tour with a big-ass orb next to him. There's another picture I took right before this one and the orb isn't there. (No, Mr. Smee is not in fact Hugh Jackman, but he's not home and I didn't want to put his face on the intarwebs without his permission.) imgur.com/TApUXkR

Damn! Was hoping he was Hugh. We didn't get any lollipops! Hmph. I took a ton of pics on the tour and, sadly, nothing showed up. Yes, chiqui! Stephen King was apparently so pissed about the movie that once he was able to procure the rights, he did The Shining miniseries and filmed it at The Stanley the way HE wanted it. My friend told me about this document of Kubrick and how he taunted King's distaste of the film right out the gate during filming. In the car wreck scene, Kubrick smashed a VW Bug, which was the vehicle Jack drove in the book. Small, dick move things like that just to say, "This is MY movie, not your book." They also told us all about it on the tour. Even though it was kinda hokey, I did enjoy hearing more history of the hotel and movie. Here's the door! (My pics weren't very ~artsy or on point since it was pitch black and I couldn't even center correctly. haha.)

The tour guide said that the little girl (Lucy?) who haunts that room likes candy and pulling women's hair. He gave us each a Dum Dum pop and said to hold it upright in our palms and she might grab one of the lollipops and make it spin around.

Ah, those bastards. They just had her close the door for us. (It was clearly on self closing hinges.) We also turned off all cells and cameras, because they said sometimes she appears in the back corner of the room as a little light. Some jackass had a light blinking on his watch, but didn't have enough sense to completely hide it until someone mentioned it and we were already seeing spots from it. People were really inconsiderate, it was disappointing.

LOL, I was squinting HARD, thinking that Mr. Smee is hot! (I'm sure he is, just not Jackman twin hot).
