My French and history classes are a distant memory, but I was embarrassed by the ignorance on display.

The pronunciation killed me. Does anyone know what an accent mark is for?? Some of these teams have spoken Spanish in past episodes!

I'm sure I knew it at some point, but I clearly didn't retain it. LOL But are you are embarrassed to be an American because the contestants didn't know it? Honestly, folks over at Previously TV can be so dramatic sometimes. Well, no, but that's mostly because I'm Canadian I don't really expect people to know, off the top, but I was surprised that no one seemed to recognize it.

I don't know, I just get stabby when I watch "The Amazing Race" and people don't know something, and posters are all up in arms. Not everyone can know and retain everything. Bleh. Lol

I get not everyone knowing, but no one knowing or even being remotely familiar with it doesn't make the best impression.

TC: I did not know the French stuff from last week. However, I know that Rotterdam is not the same as Amsterdam, what country in which they are located, and I know how to pronounce and what The Hague is. (Ha-goo, really?)

I was laughing and cringing throughout this episode. Confusing Rotterdam for Amsterdam is so typical in that people seem to think Amsterdam is the only city in the country. Drives me crazy. And TV news presenters had never seen/heard of The Hague? WTF? I mean, they even gave them the English name, not the Dutch version (although I guess that makes things slightly more challenging in that they have to realize that The Hague is the same as Den Haag). Also, why did the doctors sit at that bus stop for so long? I missed that part. What did everyone else do? But it was fun seeing some of the sights, since I was there this time last year and really enjoyed what I saw of Rotterdam, including the new train station. I've been to Den Haag a few times and recognized their under-construction train station too. Still, I keep wishing they'd come to Utrecht. The university here has red and yellow colors and there are lots of red and yellow markers in spots around the city that are part of the university. That could be challenging and confusing to the racers.

I think the doctors got confused looking for the tram they were supposed to take and ended up waiting for the bus, even though the next one scheduled wasn't for 30 minutes or something. It was definitely a strange choice to make. And they didn't realize that Rotterdam and Amsterdam were different! They're exhibit B that a medical degree doesn't necessarily mean you're smarter than anyone else. I do find it kind of funny that they commented several times about their attention to detail and then got on the 9 when they knew and said they needed the 1 to the pit stop.
And apparently none of the racers are interested in WWII, since the battle of Rotterdam was kind of a big deal.

I feel like this season is a total dud. On one hand the tasks seem really easy. On the other hand the teams are so dumb they still screw them up. And now next season is going to be all "social media stars" :Instagram models, You Tube and Vine stars. Remember Joey and Meghan? Now imagine a whole cast of them. I love the Amazing Race as a travelogue but I can't handle the casting and the dumbing down of the tasks. I may be out after this season.

I like this season OK, not one of my favorites - but I totally agree on next season, ugh. They need to stick with just a regular cast, whenever they trick it up (family, blind dates), it never goes well. And I can't imaging the drama and playing of the camera that will be going on with "social media stars."
