I don't think it was as biting as some of the other episodes skewering other celebs - I love the Russell Crowe one and the Paris Hilton one (I always sing the song from the end in my head whenever I see her picture) - but I like that they flat-out attacked Tom and the clams when everyone else had tip-toed around it.
And for some reason "Daaaad! Tom Cruise won't come out of the closet!" never stops being funny.

I have not laughed out loud at a comedy in such a long time. However, this particular episode truly made me laugh so loud my boyfriend woke up and asked me "what the hell is wrong with you?!"

Loved how everyone screamed and scattered every time R. Kelly announced that he was pullin' out his gun -- what was it, four or five times? This was a fantastic episode.

I'm a Catholic and the episode didn't offend me at all. Well, alright, I'm lying, it did. Why? Because it wasn't. funny. Seriously, I didn't laugh once. It just might be the worst episode I've ever seen. I saw the "statue of the Virgin Mary has her period" joke coming a mile away. In fact, with the exception of a few episodes (Terry Schiavo one, Death of Eric Cartman, and the Scientology one), the whole season was pretty lame IMO. I hate to say it, but I think South Park has jumped the shark.

I think I'm one of the few that think South Park actually recently entered its prime a few seasons ago. I didn't like the first 2-3 seasons that much. There were funny parts, but as whole episodes they didn't really do it for me. I actually have really liked season 9, not as much as 8 or 7, but it's been pretty much entirely funny for me except for that awful baseball episode.
As someone mentioned earlier, I too get a tiny bit annoyed at sometimes the mocking of values they do at the end. It's nice that they sort of mock both sides but they do take it a bit too far and sometimes it isn't distributed very evenly.
I'm Catholic too, and so is one of my good friends who loves South Park, and neither of us were offended at the episode. But then again, we also know to expect such humor from South Park, and it really isn't for everyone. I can totally see how people would be offended or repulsed by the show regularly.

Well, I'm sure I wasn't the only one waiting for this to happen: Scientologist Isaac Hayes quits ‘South Park’I'm with Matt & Trey on this one. Apparently it's all fun and games until someone takes a jab at the clams, then suddenly that's when they become intolerant bigots.

Heh. I was just on my way to post the Hayes news (which I've been expecting ever since "Trapped in the Closet").
Seriously--this show has been offensive to EVERYONE since Day 1. I can never really hate Isaac Hayes (thanks to the "Theme from Shaft"), but please. Clams have no sense of humor [/not a newsflash].

I'm with Matt and Trey also. They make everyone out to be bad on their show, so the Clams were no different. That being said, while I liked the character of Chef, it's no big loss because his character has become increasingly less important to the show, and it's been fine without him.
