Thanks for the info re fondant - I looked it up, and it's apparently sugar, water and sometimes lemon juice (it's been a while since I had wedding cake, so I couldn't remember what it tasted like.)
I'm so glad I just checked The Food Network's site again - I had finished watching all of the episodes I wanted to see (Throwdown, Diners..., Ace of Cakes), but there are new (to me) Throwdown episodes, so I'm happy. And they now have Barefoot Contessa episodes as well. I'm quite excited!
I've heard of Paula Deen, but I don't know if I'd enjoy her show(s) - maybe I'll try one and see if I like it.

I like watching Paula Deen for kicks. She's fun to watch and she's sassy as hell, but I can almost feel my arteries clog as I watch her show. Everything she makes has huge quantities of mayonnaise and/or butter in it.

I used to like Paula Deen and then she became one walking tick of feminine southern anachronisms. Now I want to smack her every time she opens her mouth. Also, she's a huge flirt and not in a cute way but in a ... I don't know how to say it, sort of drunken over the line way? Anyhow, after I saw her practically dry hump President Jimmy Carter in an episode, I just could not stand to watch her at all anymore.

Is anyone else really annoyed by the Neelys? I've only seen bits and pieces of it, but why are they always touching and lovely dovey? What the hell does that have to do with good cooking?
Sandra Lee will always drive me nuts. Does she ever do a show where she's not talking about her girlfriends or calling herself Aunt Sandy?

Does anyone know why on Iron Chef America, they've cut the Iron Chefs down to just three?

They seem fare more interested in each other than the food.

Really? I thought it was up to five... was it an old episode, maybe? I can't lose any of my precious Iron Chefs!

I don't know how many Iron Chefs (America) there are currently - their web-site shows 5 images at the top of the page, but further down, only 4 are listed: Iron Chef web-page at The Food Networktootsmeru - that is one of the most disrespectful and grossest things I've ever heard, re Paula Deen and former President Jimmy Carter. That's really sad.

We watched Iron Chef last night and there were only three pictures displayed (those large portraits along the back of the stage). Mario Batali and Masaharu Morimoto's pictures were gone. And this wasn't an old episode, at least according to the satellite information. I kept thinking that maybe the camera angle was such that you couldn't see all five pictures but one shot was wide and there were only three. I'm hoping I just missed seeing them or something.
As for Paula Deen, I used to enjoy watching her shows but stopped when she started Paula's Party. She's too over the top now and almost sickeningly flirtatious.

Does anyone here watch French Food at Home with Laura Calder? It's on here in Canada, don't know about the U.S. I've been watching since season one and while I like her recipes and format of the show and the occasional shots of her in Paris, she lacks any charisma and has the worst attempts at humour that it makes me embarrassed for her. Is it just me? I watch it! Her food looks (and tastes, from the things my mom and I have replicated) amazing, but yeah, she herself is kinda bland. Speaking of Candian hosts, I want to marry Anthony Sedlak. He's kinda dorky, but he's hot and would keep me well fed.
