It's not on Food Network Canada yet but I've been reading about the first episode at TWoP. Apparently everyone hates Penny? Seems like this is the first season that has the drama of typical reality shows. I hope there are some good cooks though.

Vic is kind of cute.

Yeah... at first I wanted to like Penny, but a lot of the hate seems well deserved. She's rude and, from what was shown on the episode, doesn't have a lot of redeeming qualities to make up for it. Except that I guess her food didn't suck. I didn't much care for her nemesis either, the crybaby blonde woman.

Vic looks weirdly like Vin Diesel. I liked him a lot more than I expected to.

I never watch "Next Food Network Star" I just watch the commercials and figure out which one I hate the most. Then I kick back and wait for the new show to start. I started this 3 seasons ago and I have a 100% success rate thus far. Aaron, Melissa and Aarti all made me want to shoot my TV and they all won. I have not yet seen enough of the current crop to figure out which one I hate the most.

;D I don't think I have ever watched a single episode of the winning "star" from any season. I am all about the kitchen fights and culinary fuck-ups.

There are so many detestable competitors this year.

Amen to that. The least detestable is the food critic (blogger?) lady and she's toast because she's got a case of incurable olds.

And I'm having a hard time thinking this show is genuine at all. These people are creating "drama" within five seconds of meeting each other? And the majority of these people are waaaaay too TV-ready already.

I was reading over at TWoP that "villain" Penny (who was no more horrific than the majority of people on there) has an agent. She almost made it onto the Apprentice so she was definitely "cast" here to stir the shitpot.

Has anyone else seen this[/color] article about Diners, Drive-ins and Dives? I'm cherry-picking the worst quotes, and it's obvious that there's not a lot of nice people involved in making this show at all, but still. I used to think Guy Fieri was fun. Not anymore:

He always struck me as a giant d-bag. I could never stand one second of him because of the shouting. Not to mention how unpleasing he is to look at. He's the total douchebag package!

Fieri should be banned from tv on account of his stupid hairdo and backwards-sunglasses alone. It's hard to believe this guy has a career. I love the premise of Diners & Drive-ins, but I can't take him.
