I thought the season finale was fantastic, and I probably would've liked it even more had I watched more than 3 episodes this season. What you said? Me, too. I hope UPN will rerun VM from the start, so I can try to figure out what it was all about. It took me a bit to get into the show, mainly cuz Kristin kreeps me out a bit. It's those little, black, vampiresque eyes of hers and the vaguely reptilian mouth. Really really glad it's been renewed, though!

Yes, she is kind of waspy, isn't she? She looks cute when she's in brood mood, but when she's smiling she looks... off. She's got such an extra wide smile so very full of teeth, like Parker Posy. They both have a flinty quality that works to show intensity and intellegence, but it means it's more difficult to convey relaxed happiness, IMO.

I didn't find out about this show until later so I'm watching summer reruns. I'm new to each episode. I've been spoiled like crazy since I spent alot of time on TWOP, but I have to say I love this show. I can't wait for the second season.
Believe it or not, I'm not crazy about Logan/Veronica, I'm actually more of a Weevil/Veronica fan. I know that pairing is a loooong way off, but those two have some sexy vibes going on so it's bound to happen at some point.
I can wait, Rob Thomas. I can wait.
Does anyone else slightly dislike Veronica?

I agree Draco that veronica needs to loosen the stick in her ass abit this season now that Lily's murder is solved.Weevil and Veronica is a pairing i never thought of, but that could be great.
Season 2 starts Sept. 28th and there is going to be a soundtrack.Hooray!

That is fantabulous news. Don't forget the Season 1 DVD's are coming out on October 11th. Huzzah!
It's not just that. It's also the way she uses those that care about her (Deputy Leo). I hope more people start watching the show. From what I've read on other forums, people that weren't really drawn to the show initially tend to be more critical of Veronica's character then people who loved it from the beginning. My mother for instance, is actually troubled by her use and/or manipulation of other people. She doesn't like her all that much. What I've seen in the fandom is a lot of unconditional love towards her character. Does anyone agree? I'd like to see more people who have issues with Veronica. Think of all the great discussions we could have.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Veronica became more of an anti-hero or even a villain as the series progressed? Normally, the protagonist becomes a better person. It would be very courageous if Thomas went the other way.
I have to give RT props for creating such a great character.

I do have a bit of an issue with how she uses people. I liked that she 'fessed up to Deputy Leo and broke things off when her thing with Logan started, but I hated that she turned right around and asked a huge favor of him. Deputy Leo deserves some sort of medal for that.
And I was hating the way she has Wallace at her beck and call - but I liked the episodes where Wallace calls her on it and how towards the end of the season she finally let him in on all the secrets she'd been keeping from him.
I don't think Veronica is the perfect character the way so many others seem to, nor do I think Kristen Bell is the world's best actress (she's good - but she not that good) the way a lot of people do. But as long as characters continue to call Veronica on her crap and don't let her get away with it, I'll be fine with her because that indicates that the writers don't want us to think she is perfect. If the show ever devolves into one of those shows where all the characters love the female lead, think she's perfect and can do no wrong, when her behavior clearly indicates otherwise (Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek, Lana Lang from Smallville, Sydney Bristow from Alias - the list goes on) then I'll start to have a problem. I HATE it when writers only tell us how wonderful a character is and that we should love her, but all the things they show us (her behavior) indicates just the opposite.
Veronica can be imperfect and a "grey" character - they are usually more interesting - but I will not stand for other characters worshipping her. I hope Rob Thomas is smart enough to stay away from the that and that the UPN execs don't force him into that kind of development.

How about loving these characters in spite of it all.

Deputy Leo deserves some sort of medal for that. I kinda feel like the saving grace for Veronica is the fact that while she does use people she would also bend over backwards for those same friends. Plus she's a teenage private eye how else is she supposed to get things done? Isn't that "I need a favor" bit sort of standard in a PI show?

Hooray Premiere night tonight! In the era of TV show spoilers being readily available to the general public I must congraulate the VM people on keeping the lid shut on this year's big mystery, cause I have looked.

That was...kinda disappointing. FWIW, I never watched VM on the original run due to "Scrubs" but got hooked and downloaded them all over the course of 3 days over the summer. I dug it completely until the finale, which IMO sucked. The show kept planting these little hints and clues that you thought were all going to come together at the end. Instead, they didn't -- the revelation of the murderer was character-based ("hey, that temperamental psycho? yeah, he's actually a psycho.") rather than clue-based.
This premiere felt way too rushed, like they tried to cram in 2-3 episodes worth of backstory into one. And Veronica's "I just wanna be normal" act was old when Buffy did it. But speaking of, yay, Charisma! So, so pretty and bitchy and awesome. The one cast addition I can approve -- adding five people to the opening credits ain't cool when Weevil and Wallace need more love.
The "Ordinary People" reference bugged me in a way the popcult refs never did on Buffy. Maybe because I bought those characters as obsessed geeks whereas Dick and Beaver have been portrayed as morons.
I know I sound like I'm being a total hater -- I was just let down. The bus thing was an awesome twist and I hope it breaks Veronica out of her shell. I'm looking forward to see where the show is going.
