This scene from Grey's Anatomy way back in season 3 made me cry so hard first time I watched the episode. It's the one about George's father dying. The way he urges his dad to fight a little harder makes me tear up, mainly because TR Knight was so damn good.

Speaking of soaps... how about BJ's death on General Hospital? When Felicia figures out that BJ's heart went to her own daughter... shit. I actually just watched it on youtube and it's as powerful as ever.

I was just going to post that margojata! I was pregnant at the time and watching it at work. I was a sobbing mess. And not just the scene where Felicia finds out, when word spread through the hospital and everyone's reaction. Lucy Coe's, her former step-mother, was particularly heart wretching.
Another sob story was also on GH when Stone died and Robin told him she was HIV+.

The scene where Tony comes in and listens to BJ's heart inside Maxie--nothing said, just the sounds of his daughter's heart--made me cry.

Though I avoid the series for its general campiness, I was once moved by the 100th episode of Criminal Minds, in which the beleaguered Aaron Hotchner races to save his soon-to-be-killed-by-a-psychopath ex-wife and fails. Especially the part where they have to say goodbye via cell phone while the murderer is circling the doomed Haley Hotchner, and the normally stoic Hotch actually cries while sitting behind the wheel and trying to get there.
Haley: Aaron, you're okay? Hotch: … I'm fine. Haley: But he said...Oh, Aaron. I am so sorry. Hotch: Haley, show him no weakness, no fear. Haley: I know. Sam told me all about him... Hotch: You're so strong, Haley, stronger than I ever was. Haley: You'll hurry, right? Hotch: I know you didn't sign on for this. Haley: Neither did you. Hotch: I'm sorry for everything. Haley: Promise me that you will tell [our son] how we met and how you used to make me laugh. Hotch: Haley… Haley: He needs to know that you weren't always so serious, Aaron. I want him to believe in love, because it is the most important thing, but you have to show him. Promise me. Hotch: I promise.

My dad's goddaughter has hearing issues, which her parents did not realize until she was a couple years old. Her grandmother once told me how it really hit her after the girl got hearing aids (both ears) and one day when the window was open, started pointing frantically to it and going, "Grandma, the birdies! The birdies are singing!" She said it with such wonder that her grandmother just started sobbing, and I cried too when she told me the story. Sniff. Guys, I never watched "Futurama," but you are killing me with your description of the dog episode! Of course I cried when Buffy's mom died, but also during "Prophecy Girl," when she said, "I'm only 16. I don't want to die." Ugh, I watched the ER ep "Love's Labor's Lost" when I was a teenager and it scarred me for life. So heartbreakingly sad. Another sad one: When Kellie Martin's character is stabbed, and she pretty much knows she's going to die. She is being worked on and there's a complication and she mouths it to the other doctor, clearly aware that this is it for her. *Sob* Buffy's mom (that sh*t came outta left field, I'm sorry) and Kellie dying on ER can still make me tear up if I'm in wimpy mood. I avoid certain eps if I see them in reruns.

I actually just watched it on youtube and it's as powerful as ever. Ok, I stopped watching GH about 10 years before this happened, but since I remembered most characters listed here, and remembered them fondly, I went to the youtubes and looked this up... ...and as a father of a kindergarten aged daughter, post Newtown, this DESTROYED me. Tony listening? Sheesh! Happy Anniversary to me....
