The episode "Memphis" from This is Us, where Randall and his biological father take a road trip. Hoo boy, break out the hankies!

"Downtown Abbey," Sybil's death. I marathoned that show a couple of years ago on Amazon so I could catch up with the final season, which was about to be broadcast. I knew no spoilers, I did not know Sybil's portrayer was leaving the show. I figured there was no WAY they would kill her off, and they DID. And then Cora and Tom sobbing over her, and the Dowager Countess coming in the next day and having to steady herself? Omg. I have never cried so hard watching something. I was watching on a kindle, and my husband found me bawling in the kitchen and was like, "OMG what happened???" "I CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW!"

Poussey's death on Orange is the New Black made me nearly catatonic with grief. I felt like I'd lost a best friend. I don't think the death of any fictional character has ever affected me that deeply. Although I do still get misty eyed over any talk of "Hodor" in Game of Thrones circles. Most recently, the Cold Open of SNL hit pretty hard. I held it together during Jason's speech but lost it completely at the first guitar twang.

I had almost the exact same experience as carrier76, except it was the Ozymandias episode Breaking Bad. I binged-watched 4.5 seasons in order to watch the last season, live. This episode was so emotionally gripping that I was still shaken the next day. I remember sitting at work the next day with a thousand-yard stare. The entire series was extraordinary, but that episode shaved years off my life.

I haven't seen much of SNL recently and I missed this completely. I am regretting my choice to watch in my office.

I still think that it's the best episode of a drama series ever produced in the U.S.

Oh my God, the way she and Carson say that there could be nothing worse than this? And she walks away and has to hold on to something before going to the family to console them after Sybil's death? I could cry right now, thinking about this. This was the scene that got to me the most during the whole Sybil drama.

Gary's death on Thirtysomething. Wahhh!!! And due to it being in an era where spoilers were still things on the back of cars it was probably aired over here about year later but I was happily watching unaware and wahhh! That and Gonzo Gates having a stroke on Trapper John MD both my crushes of that era(ish)cruelly felled with no warning!

Any episode of MASH where Henry Blake makes a reference to his life at home is kind of a punch.
