Gary Burghoff (Radar) did a good job in that scene where he tells everyone Henry's plane was shot down. The way he says, "There weren't no survivors" in that trying-not-to-cry voice is so sad.

Congratulations to the writers of Saving Grace for making me cry like a baby during the episode in which Leon Cooley is finally executed. An impressive feat, considering I don't think the series is that good. They also deserve credit for depicting the actual execution in a way that didn't feel either gratuitous or unrealistic.

Ah, crap. This is a show I keep forgetting is on. I only sort of half-watched it, but I wanted to know where they were going with the execution thing. Man, now I have to go dig it up online. It makes me sad just reading about it - I thought Grace's friend would have found a way to save him.

In the Michael Jackson thread they've been talking about the song, "Ben" that was popular in the early 70s. It was a song for a rat.
That got me thinking about sad animal movies/TV programs I watched when I was a kid, and out of some dark corner of my brain came the memory of bawling my eyes out on and off for days after the end of "JT". Does anyone remember this one? About a boy and his cat? They even made a book from the program with stills from the show. I couldn't go near that book in the library without getting all sobby inside.
Tell me I'm not the only one who a) saw this and b) was reduced to tears.

Was that the stray, one-eye'd cat who lived in the alley, and the boy would sneak cans of tuna for it, and-
Oh God, can't let myself remember!

Yep, that's the one. Turn away while you still can! Run far from the heartbreak!

Yes! I never thought to look for it on YouTube.
And now that I know that it's there, I'm never going to watch it. That boy was just too realistic; I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't an actor.

Kevin Hooks[/color] played J.T. It was his first role. He went on to star in The White Shadow and is now a director.

Oh hell, he was in "Sounder", too! Another killer movie!
But it's good to see that he went on to become successful.
