TLC's What Not To Wear - It's wierd that I like that show because I don't care that much about fashion. I certainly wouldn't be on it, but still. To spend your life telling people to buy dark wash denim and making fun of their old clothing does not sound like a fun job. At least Clinton and Stacey are funny sometimes.

Oh I love that show. It used to be much meaner with the old guy hosting it. I tried to get a friend on it. I think it's great that most everyone still looks unique at the end and they have learned how to fit things on their body to cover their flaws and highlight their positives. There are other shows (Like that horrible 10 Years Younger) where the people just look all crappy by the end in their Sears clothing and poofy hair.

Is WNTW a guilty pleasure? Oh. Well, I love the show. However, I am becoming less enamored of it since it seems all the haircuts look the same and all the clothes look the same. Plus, they don't always take lifestyle into consideration. I have learned a lot about proper fit for body types, though, and that's helped me a lot.

I do enjoy watching WNTW on occasion, but the expensiveness of the clothes bothers me sometimes. In a recent episode Clinton was telling someone not to consider the price of an article of clothing if it was a good piece and I'm thinking Yeah, that's all well and good when you've got $5000 from TLC to work with, but what about when they go back to their low income job? They don't often take into consideration that most of the people they have on can't afford the really nice clothes and if they can, can't afford to take them to a tailor to make them fit properly. And their obsession with pointy shoes is so annoying.
That and Nick's haircuts have been increasingly worse. And it seems like it's always super-short with weird bangs or curls.
That being said, I have learned some things. Like how to dress my girls without looking like a porn star.

It is a guilty pleasure for me because I couldn't give a tiny rat's hindquarters about fashion, especially really expensive fashion. You are right though, it has taught me about what clothes I should and shouldn't wear with my body type. So at least I learned something from TV which is more than I can say about my usual viewing.

Whatever did happen to the first guy that was on with Stacy? The big, shaggy, suede jacket wearing guy....

I only watch the American version of WNTW occasionally because the hosts come across as more bitchy than caring. I much prefer the original, British version. They are funny and can give tough criticism without coming across as cruel and catty.

I used to think Stacey and Clinton were too harsh, but I don't really think so anymore. For example, instead of Stacey saying, "Wear this because it covers up your fat ass," she'll say something like, "Do you see how this conceals any areas you feel self-conscious about?"
vv Yup, his name is Wayne. I never got how someone with hair like his could tell anyone their look was outdated.

I personally think it was because he was a little too bitchy for the show. Between him and Stacey, it was sort of painful to watch them make fun of people. Stacey really needed that Clinton goofiness to soften her up. I think he's a celebrity stylist though so he's probably doing OK. Just not doing it on TV. Wayne? Was that his name?

Oh, God, I love WNTW! It's one of my favorite shows, and I don't even remotely feel guilty about it! I even blogged about it on my MySpace page!
I think I posted this over on True Confessions many moons ago, but I just love game shows. Can't really watch 'em anymore because I work during the day, but God, I just turn into the biggest raving geek! I get really really excited for these people to do well - I root for them, I shout out what answer they should go with, and if it's someone who I really like, or feel sorry for, I've totally cried when they win. I cried my ass off at the very first guy who won on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", when he actually DID know the answer, knew he was going to win a million, but used his phone lifeline anyway to call his father and tell him that he actually knew the answer but wanted him to be on the phone with him when he won. Buckets, y'all - I cried buckets. But actually, my favorite is the Price is Right - again, I cried my eyes out when this poor little old lady named Ruby just kept getting so scared before she'd give an answer - and then she won the whole showcase! I absolutely bawled!
