After posting about crazy QAF fans in the "Y'all Jus Jellus!" forum, I wanted to start a thread over here to honor one of the best tv shows ever made. Seriously, it's wonderful.
I love Aidan Gillen as the fascinating Stuart Alan Jones. He comes off as quite the bastard more often than not, but he still has this genuinity about him that I just love. Also, throughout the show it's fascinating to see how we get to go deeper and deeper into his character, instead of being stucked with that more "evil" side of him and wondering why the hell his friends are still around.
I adore Craig Kelly as the cute, nerdy Vince Tyler. He's incredibly sweet and innocent, but you also get to see other sides of him as the show progresses. His undying love for Stuart is both heartbreaking and interesting.
Charlie Hunnam as Nathan, Denise Black as Hazel, Anthony Cotton as Alex. They're all perfect because they are so very human.
Most of all, I love the writer, Russel T. Davies.
Do you love it or hate it? Why? Somewhere in between? Haven't seen it yet? (What are you waiting for??) Do you want Stuart and Vince to end up together?
Discuss!

There is a QaF (UK) thread ... I had no idea. I adore Queer as Folk (UK). I love everything about this show: the actors, the dialogue, the music, etc. I like every single character, but Vince is my favourite. He is so sweet and adorable, and (like me) a huge Dr. Who fan. I want Hazel to be my mum. She kicks all kinds of ass. The less is said about Debbie, the better. Stuart is not the most attractive guy, he can be incredibly rude and selfish, but he is unbelievably sexy and has charisma in spades. This is IMO the sweetest declaration of love ever: And his coming-out speech is briliant: I miss this show a lot. I refuse to watch the US version, it drives me insane. Here some pictures: StuartSo hot Awww The kiss Dancing Vince + Stuart 4 EVAH!!!!11!!

Aaaaw, someone posted in "my" thread! I guess it's just the two of us then, fiona.
That conversation between Stuart and Vince is one of the best moments I've ever seen on TV. It has so many layers.
First of all, I love the way Stuart calls Vince on his feelings for Cameron, how he just comes right out and says what's really true about Vince's lack of self-esteem and why he can't love Cameron.
Second of all, I adore the tension between them. It's always present when they're in the same room, but because of everything that have happened prior to that scene, my TV is close to bursting into flames each time I watch it.
Third of all, when Stuart says "It was good enough for me", it somehow becomes the most romantic thing ever. It's just the perfect way to let us see a glimpse of what can be, but to not force it down our throats.
I guess that's what I love about QAF UK. They do everything in this subtle way, always making the viewers wonder: What just happened there? They have a lot of faith in the viewers because it's basically up to us to decide what we want to read into the different events. Kind of like musicians not wanting to tell what lyrics to their songs are about, but rather let the listener create his/hers own story around it.
Btw, I do watch QAF US, even though I truly believe the British version is a lot better. I find it close to impossible to compare the two because the US version, naturally, has developed in a totally different direction than the UK version. One of the biggest disappointments in the US version is that they're not being as subtle and "gentle"* as the UK version.
*By "gentle" I mean in approaching the viewers, not the actual content of the show.
As you can tell, I can go on for hours about this. I'll shut up now. Aidan Gillen is sexy. Ah.

Absolutely. I watched Law & Order: Trial By Jury several weeks ago just because of Aidan. And I hate Law & Order. I highly recommend the Definitive Collector's Edition DVD. Lots of bonus material, deleted and extended scenes and commentary on every episode by Aidan, Craig, Denise, Antony, Russell T Davies and producer Nicola Shindler. Russell and Craig are very funny and chatty, Aidan is soft-spoken, very quiet and shy. Love them.

I'm bumping this thread up to express my jealousy. I would love to see QAF UK but I can't find the DVD'S on Netflix or Blockbuster but someday I will get my hands on it. I'm interested in comparing it to the first season of the US version before Cowlip decided to go in a different direction.

I bought mine from Play.com. Queer As Folk Collector's Box SetIt's really worth the money. One of the best TV shows ever made. The US show pales in comparison, IMO. A girl on LJ met Aidan Gillen a few weeks ago, and she let us enjoy the hotness.

I just re-read the interview with Russell T.Davies on TWOP, and thought I'd share the link if anyone's interested. It's after the UK version finished, but before the US version. I wonder what he would say about the second version today. Never!
