Will someone please tell me what this "show" is about.
I've seen bits and bits of it but never fully understand it.

Viva La Bam is MTV's hit "prank" show all about the life & antics of pro-skater and professional jackass Bam Margera. From hilarious scavenger hunts to changing the house into a giant skatepark or hockey rink, he always keeps the show a family affair.

Or rather, it's the story of a Viacom Trust Fund Baby with his hangers-on who torture his family like an overgrown 14 year old without his medication that likes being a complete asshole. It's not as funny as Jackass as it's pathetically sad if seen by someone who actually works for a living.

Not that I'm biased.

Kind of. Ashton Kutcher took Jamie's idea od playing pranks on people and 'created' Punked, or Punk'd, or however the hell you spell it. Bam pretty much harrassed his parents on the tv show Jackass, in the movie, and on some tapes like the CKY(?) movies. He's doing the same stupid shit, just with a bigger budget.

Wow. You hit the nail on the head with that description. He's annoying. His friends are annoying. And his parents must be getting paid big time to put up w/ that crap.

You know, Jackass was funny because, let's face it, we ALL have a friend or two who does REALLY stupid things for amusement, and it is awesome to hang with them and laugh at them. Viva La Bam is horribly scripted, lame, mean, and unfunny, because Bam Margera is the not-so-cool-and-trying-way-too-hard friend of Johnny Knoxville. I much preferred Wild Boyz, if only because Pontius has an incredible butt.

I've seen parts of it once and I hate this show. I sa wthis really horrible bit where Bam was hitting his father in the belly with a hockey stick. I just understand why the father didn't crack a bat at Bam's head.

Thanks! Seriously, my hatred of Bam stems from one single episode and it's the one where he decides everybody is going to move. From the starting line of 'it's gonna be my house and my rules' to his own mother--which is an odd thing to say for a twenty-five year old man who by all rights should take his Viacom money and just split if it's too much for him--he then tears apart his parents' house and then goes out to find another house to live in. During this segment of driving around God knows where in his (now found to be RENTED) Hummer he starts making fun of normal houses by saying how he 'rather die then live in any of those.'

This is when my hate really went into overdrive. Those houses were perfectly fine dwellings and here we have some pathetic asshole making fun of people who actually work by acting like some holier-than-thou dipshit. As if he could afford the same fucking car he was driving in. The audacity of this asshole was amazing to me. Even more so when he finds his 'dream house' (a combination of barn and cathedral) and leaves his parents to decorate it while he goes touring with 'my brother's band in Europe!' So not only is he a Viacom Trust Fund Baby, the only reason he's famous is because his brother is in a band. He's just worthless all around.

I would go on but after hearing that from the mouth of someone not even two years younger than me yet light years away from doing something even adult-like, it just struck me how completely useless he is. People would have to laugh at him, I can't see him doing anything even remotely adult-like ever. Gah, just gah. This is why I laughed when JSimp revealed him to be a complete sham along with telling everybody that his parents didn't even live with him and all that nonsense. You can tell that Bam's ignorance and faux superiority are real, yet everything else is just a sham. He's essentially selling out his life and is going to wake up one day a broken middle-age man who has nothing to show for his life once MTV decides to go younger. And when that day hits? I'm going to laugh loud and long and clear.

I much preferred Wild Boyz, if only because Pontius has an incredible butt.

I also imagine it would be more in the vein of Jackass as the only thing Margera does (or did doing the Jackass skits) is beat up his family or do some incredibly lame Tony Hawk ripoffs.

Dad and Mom are on the payroll. While I should go into their own motivations about doing this--you know, losing the respect and love of their own freaking children just for their own benefit--it's just easier to say they got a chance at getting some free money and despite what you see on the screen if they wanted it to stop I think they could. I keep imagining after the show is over Bam's going to be disowned and end up dying of some STD in the street and they wouldn't really care.

This show is wacky... I dont like it.

If you really want some gross humor of the Jackass sort, just watch Jackass as the presence of Knoxville really grounds the stupidity of all these people. I'm not sure why but without him the rest of the crew just seems to be pointless and unfocused. Or rather, Knoxville was their straight man and the rest of them are just to irresponsible or famehungry to be likable. Yeah, I'm saying Knoxville is likable, at least more so then the rest of them.
