I can't remember the details of my own experience years ago with Starkey's book about the six wives, but that made me decide not to buy anything else by him.

You might enjoy Starkey's documentary on the six wives for snark value. Along with his dramatic narration, the universal symbol for childbirth is a woman washing her hands in a basin. Bloody hands = miscarriage. Blood-free hands = successful live birth.

He certainly is dramatic. MrCatHead and I are enjoying saying normal everyday things a la Starkey. "I would like my breakfast and tea now, my darling!"

Wait, how is this a reveal or a secret? It isn't exactly new and has been shown before.

Last year the BBC aired "Victoria: A Royal Love Story" as part of the big Victoria & Albert exhibition, where a large part of their private art collection was shown, including this portrait. And many other documentaries prior have also included the portrait.

I believe it was also featured on the dust jacket of a Victoria bio in the last decade. I love Winterhalter portraits.

Bones of Richard III of England found under parking lot

Such an awesome discovery. The identity of the remains were determined using DNA, radio carbon dating, and visual identification. Richard III died in 1485 at the Battle of Bosworth. The main supporters of the dig was Philippa Langley, a member of the Richard III Society, which aims to rehabilitate his image from:

Shakespeare’s damning representation of him as the limping, withered, haunted murderer of his two princely nephews.
