Wow, I guess I was the only one who didn't know she was a ghost. I agree that the characters felt off last night; it was like Sam's emo-ness and Dean's lack of tact/grace were amped up to 11 last night. After Tricia Helfer was onscreen for a few minutes, my husband nods and says, "She's hot." I told him she has quite the following on "Battlestar Galactica". I hope that her guest spot gave the show a bump on the ratings.

Your not the only one Dr. Freude!! I had no idea until it was revealed.
I do agree that this episode was weirdly slow and kinda boring. Especially as the first episode after the loooooong break.

I think it was told from the point of view of Molly, which was why Sam and Dean seemed so extreme, like when Molly says, "Thank God," and Dean replies, "You can just call me Dean."

That's the same way I saw it, neurochick. I liked it too. Has a television show ever improved this much between seasons 1 and 2? Last year was kinda cute and mildly entertaining in an Are You Afraid of the Dark way, but this year, while it's still cutesie at times, it's like a real grown up series. If that makes any sense? The killer clown made me turn the lights on, even. ETA: I didn't see the Molly ghost twist coming, either.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the episode. I just felt like something about the boys was a little off (though I know their behavior was supposed to be due to Molly's ghostiness). I guess I'm only in the minority re: not seeing the twist over at TWOP. It cracks me up that almost everyone over there insists they knew the twist "just from the previouslies." What-the-fuck-ever. I think they are being really harsh on the episode over there.

I'm in the minority too, cause I thought it was one of their better episodes. I was totally spoiled coming in and knew she was a ghost from the start and that others didn't like the ep. I agree that the ep was told from Molly's point of view and that's why it seemed a bit different. Watching their faces at some points (especially Sam) while talking with her, knowing she's a ghost, well, I thought it was spot on. The ending was well done and very heartbreaking. I even got teary. Ya, I'm a sap.

I liked the episode. I may not rewatch as many times as, say, "Nightshifter" or "Born Under a Bad Sign," but it was not a bad episode, just different then their usual salt-and-burn stories.
And they used "House of the Rising Sun," which is such a great song. Automatic bonus points from me. That is one thing I must say that I appreciate about this show. Not only does the music rock (I love classic rock), but they use it so well.

Last nights episode had me bawling like a baby at the end. Poor Sammy! And when Dean's one lone tear when down his cheek I about lost it. I have been totally crushing on Jensen Ackles since I first saw this series. But after last night I had naughts thoughts of Jared. His arms? abs? *fans self* holy crap that boy is HOT! He did nothing much for my on Gilmore Girls but he has grown up and matured nicely! He must know his way around the gym too. Mmmm, go sammy! And the lucky actress that got to do that passionate sex scene with him! Jealous! Still though, after all of that, it still seemed to me that they just didn't have as much fun with the cute one liners and the jesting and teasing each other that they had before. Is the show not getting enough attention/publicity? I heard both of the guys at a red carpet event and Jensen said at least twice how hard they were working. Is there some tension with that? Is there tension between the guys because Jared is getting more attention/better emotional story lines? I am getting a little tired of Dean always being the horndog. In last night's episode where he's at the strip club I'm thinking ENOUGH ALREADY with the slutty/horny/DOG Dean. Make him sexy and tough but not a total leering man whore. Jeez. Otherwise I liked it. Now onto a FUN and LIGHT episode please!

This one was probably my least favorite this season, but, yeah, the end was sad. I don't think the writing or the acting was very good, and the poor actress who played the love interest looked wayyy too much like Kim Kardashian, which made the love scene nearly unwatchable. Ewwwwww.
