Then there was the Sharpe series set in the Napoleonic Wars. Sean Bean with a sabre... Forget the sabre. I'll take Sean Bean in anything. And preferably in NOTHING at all... {Fanning self}

In addition to all the shows mentioned previously, I have a special affection for anything with Robson Green in it. I think I saw him for the first time on BBCA when he was playing a bodyguard for one of the Queen's sons while the prince attends university. They both fall in love with Tara Fitzgerald--who has one of the worst American accents ever, btw.
Silly, silly show, but he was just lovely to look upon.

I love Robson Green. I just loved him in Touching Evil. I wish they would make a new one.

I love, love, love Ant and Dec. Can't help it, they're so cute! When I spent a year in England in 2001/2002 they were still hosting that kids/music (?) programme every Saturday morning. During that time they also presented Pop Idol. I didn't get to watch a lot TV when I was there but I'll never forget Ant and Dec. I visited my sister in London this past weekend and caught a bit of their new (I don't know, is it new?) show on Saturday night. It was silly but their cuteness made up for everything.
I hope they don't secretly hate each or something 'cause that would make me sad.

So, there at least two of appreciate of Mr. Bean's worth? Oh I think there are more than just two of us. There used to be a hugely active thread all about Sean Bean and the lust for him could have generated electricity for a small country! Am I the only person who liked "Upstairs, Downstairs" ? Or some of the Susan Hampshire stuff like Anthony Trollope's "The Pallisers", "Monarch of the Glen" or her tour as the first Duchess of Marlborough in "The First Churchills" ? Wow, I'm amazed.

I liked that one too, Kafka! Some of the storylines were really sad (especially Lady Marjorie's death on the Titanic and Roberts returning home alone) but the whole series was fascinating.

Loved "Upstairs, Downstairs" as well as "Fawlty Towers" and, of course, "Monty Python". I remember seeing "Tom Brown's Schooldays" on PBS during my school days. Lots of cute guys were on that particular series.
Favorite is still "I, Claudius", what a great series that one was.

You are looking at a happy Duke today! Well, not really, but you know what I mean. I just got back from Borders with a 2-DVD set of At Last, The 1948 Show, which I watched as a kid. It came out in 1967 and featured pre-Pythons John Cleese & Graham Chapman, as well as Tim Brooke-Taylor and Marty Feldman, in the regular cast. Many guest stars who also would be familiar to BritCom lovers.
Borders had a filmed version of Beyond The Fringe, too, which I did not think existed. I'll have to get that next month (Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, Alan Bennett, Jonathan Miller). Woo hoo! The cover of that one credits this comedy revue with starting the British satire of the 60s, which is crap...that style of rapid-fire smart surreal comedy goes goes back to The Goon Show on radio in the 50s (where Peter Sellers got his start)... I credit the deranged brilliance of Spike Milligan, writer of The Goon Show, for kick-starting the kind of comedy that gave us Monty Python.
Happy, happy Duke!

I have a secret love for The Teletubbies and Boo-bah.. Simultaneously soothing and psychedelic.
