Has anyone here watched Surface? It was supposedly the worst of the 3 Lost “clones” according to the critics. Yet it is doing well in the ratings, and the network has already ordered more episodes. The show started off slowly and it’s definitely a bit cheesy, but it is actually quite entertaining. Surface also has the break-out star of the fall season; a thing called Nimrod. It’s a little dragon lizard thingy that acts like a cat, eats tiny dogs, and electrocutes people that try to poke it with a cattle prod!

I have seen about 2 or 3 epidodes. I like little Nim! He looks alittle fake and they don't show him too long just quick flashes but it's fun. I like it better than Invasion that's for sure. But I think it's a little too slow moving. Just in the episodes I watched they are not much closer to finding out what those things are . Plus what is with the government and that scientist and now that guy that just talked the government to end their inquiry in the whole thing, calling it just an environmental thing? Not a national secuity threat?

Yep, they are definitely taking their time. They will probably drag it out until the end of the season. Hopefully it will move ahead tonight. I wonder if Nim will return one day and eat that annoying sister of Miles. ;D Yes, that part is strange. Apparently the Asian guy is working both sides of the fence. It looks like he is really working for the gardener whose face they purposely didn’t show. It’s getting more intriguing every episode.

Yeah the freaky gardener...
So they are stuck at the bottom of the ocean with their oxygen supply going down, and their sub leaking water. How are they going to get back to the surface?
Nice to see the sister sticking up for her brother a little finally. I'm kind of glad they cast a regular(average) looking lady as the lead in the show.
So the previews for next week showing the creatures killing people. I was hoping they would be nice and cuddly like Nim. I was thinking more Sea World show starring these creatures and less King Kong like with the military eventually going after them and killing them all. What do you think?
So those egg things in the aquarium were little Nim's waiting to hatch right? and only the boy knows?

That’s what they get for building a sub made out of a rusted old tank. Ha! ;D
Yes, that was shocking. I didn’t think she had it in her. Did you also notice the evil government Asian guy, Dr. Lee, playing soft music with his deaf girlfriend? Humm, I guess they want to show us that he is not just a cold blooded killer.
I think the aquarium guy said they were infertile, so they won’t hatch. But you’re right, so far only Miles knows what those eggs really contain and it looks like he found a occupation he likes.
The story is really starting to pick up. I think Lake Bell is the perfect marine biologist.

The cheesier the better. I prefer Surface and Threshold to the critical favorite, Invasion. The cast is filled with 'regular-looking' or unusual choices, not supermodel marine biologists, etc.
The little critter is a bit fakey, but cute. I've been able to predict most of the major plot developments, but the actors are likable and it doesn't drag things out as much as Invasion. Plus, they aren't afraid to show parents who want to believe the best in their kids, as opposed to sustaining the typical dramas to maximize conflict.

Another funny thing about this show is all that all the main scenes seem to be from old sci-fi movies.
I could have sworn I saw pieces of: The Abyss, Close Encounters, ET, etc., during some episodes.

Can someone give me a little info about last night's episode? I didn't tape it and I'm wondering how the kid got bit. And is Nim really dead? So fire can't kill the creatures but they can be killed with gunfire?
eta: Do you think somehow the creatures will come and be peaceful, contributing somehow to humankind and live with people? Like some disaster will happen that only the creatures can help us with? save us from? Or (more likely) it will become a "How do we kill them?" type show? If it comes to that and all they want to do is kill them and start a big war against all these creatures, I'm tuning out.

Nim The Miles/Nim saga was the only reason I kept watching. Unless he miraculously lives, I don't think I'll be tuning in anymore.

You probably got the info by now, but if not: Miles was attacked in the last episode before this one by a flock of little kitty lizards in a pond near the electrical power station Miles went to searching for Nim. In this episode the wounds became infected and instead of going to a doctor he went to school and his dumb partner-in-crime, Phil poured alcohol on the open wound. You should have heard Miles scream! Haha! Laura & Rich bounced around in the raft which most people could barely see because it was so dark. A funny moment came when Laura was ranting about how she hated her gradma, next thing you know a big nim-type creature shot them 10 feet into the air. A little while later, a helicopter came to rescue them and the big nim-type creature almost ate the helo! Meanwhile back at the hospital, Miles got sicker and his sister went to get Nim. Nim got away in the hospital and licked Miles wounds. The wounds would later heal miraculously. Finally, when the hospital staff chased Nim, a stupid rent-a-cop shot him dead!! It was horrible. You should really get this episode. It was pretty good - well except for Laura & Rich going crazy in the raft that no one could see. Good question, my bet is that if he can heal Miles, he isn’t really dead. He’s just in suspended animation or something. Proof of that is the final scene when the marine biologist was about to cut open the (supposedly) dead & frozen Nimrod, the picture fades to black. My guess is that miles will shock the sh*t out of him in the next episode! Ha!
