I've never been a shipper, but that made me happy. Particularly the last shot.
And Karin Kanoval was freaking amazing. It's so hard to believe she was also Mrs. Peacock.

The stand alone episodes are so much better than the nonsensical mythology ones.

I skipped the first 2 episodes of this new season because I never watched the last episode of the previous season, and thought I'd be lost. I just watched episode 3 and thought is was fine. Do I need to go back and watch episodes 1 and 2? Please say "no". I gave up on the mythology a long time ago, but I love the Mulder/Scully dynamic and have always enjoyed the stand alone episodes.

I'd say no, if you're not into the mythology.
Before I watched this season's first two episodes, I had to go back and watch the prior season's finale. I couldn't remember any of it except the final cliffhanger scene. Now that I'm caught up, it still makes no sense. I've already forgotten large chunks, except the gross reveal about William's parentage.

Thanks, Fig. I'm not going to bother going back and watching, especially if it still makes no sense.

I actually thought the second episode was really good, there's a little myth-arc stuff in it but it was more of a straight-up thriller and had some great action sequences. And a much-beloved character returns.

Darin Morgan, you magnificent bastard. I think my favorite part was the reference to how awful the episode Tesos Dos Bichos was: "If it turns out to be evil cats, I'm going to be very disappointed."

Mulder’s adult head on a little boy’s body! So disturbing. It reminded me of that Key and Peele sketch baby Forrest Whittaker. I loved the insertion of Reggie into the old episodes. I gasped when they first showed Scully from the pilot. She looked so young. I need to watch this again, it was so dense with stuff I know a lot of it went over my head.

Is anyone reading the indiewire reviews? This one completely cracked me up. (Obviously not safe if you're not spoiled for it, fair warning.)
