Every time Mia has been before the judges she has had these moments where her face would just tighten. I think I noticed it the for the first time on one of the first chaallenges. She was actually in the top three, but she didn't win--and her face just changed. She seemed just fine when they returned to the pantry and told the waiting chefs who had won--Ilan maybe?--but for a split second she just looked livid.
I think she was going to be the one to have to pack her knives even before she volunteered.
I'll bet Padma was pissed that Mia swiped her big line.

That was not exactly filled with "Holiday Spirit" but oh well, at least Mia's gone.
I can't get over how creepy these guys are compared to last year. I bet the reunion show is filled with all sorts of bitterness and emotional meltdowns (it better be!). It'll probably make Stephen's little throw-down with Ken seem quaint and innocent.

Ya know, my first thought was that Mia would have been the one to go anyway. But now I am wondering if Mike would have been the one packing his knives. He set himself up by claiming he was the link between FoH and BoH. I could see Tom blaming the lack of food on the table on Mike so he could get rid of a lesser talent.
But I'll bet the very defensive Mia assumed she would be he one to go because of Cliff's "setting her up" so she volunteered before they could boot her. I 'm thinking the producers would have wanted to keep her for the after elimination drama with Cliff that would surely arise.

You know, I thought Michael would have been the one sent packing also, but I read Tom's blog over at Bravo. He said they were going to send Elia home since she was the team leader.
Mia really let loose, didn't she...I laughed when she told Cliff "Put your d--k away".
Mia was right - there wasn't enough food, there wasn't enough variety. Too bad they didn't listen to her.

I 'm thinking the producers would have wanted to keep her for the after elimination drama with Cliff that would surely arise. See, you read my mind. The first thing I thought was - I'll bet Mia would have been the one to go anyway, and she "volunteered" to rescue Elia so that she could continue to play the martyr card. I'm so glad she's gone, her and her dozen hard-luck stories. Either that, or she was just plain fed up, decided to quit and then did threw herself onto her knife "for Elia" so she could look like the hero, and not a quitter. Puh-leeze. Over at TWoP, someone posted Colicchio's blog, where he said that Elia would have gone if Mia hadn't quit - but really, I'm cynical to the point where I don't quite believe that.

I agree...I just assumed Mia was going to go and she chose to martyr herself vs. be voted off because it suited her self-pity better. I seriously doubt they would have sent Elia home over Mia or Mike.

Count me in among the cynics. There was no way they'd have sent Elia packing before Mia.
And I still for the life of me can't figure out what the contestant's anger issues are towards Marcel. Whatever he's doing to them, he seems to be doing off camera because I just don't get the rage directed at him.

That's the other thing on the producer's blogs - they posted that they do NOT understand why the other contestants hate Marcel so much. The producers said Marcel didn't do anything to warrant such hostility. And doesn't bad behavior mean better television and higher ratings? So they'd be showing it if that were the case. There's an interview with Marcel over at the Bravo site, and they ask him "Why all the hate?" He even admits that he can have an arrogant attitude sometimes, but he doesn't get why they totally loathe him like they do. But the producers' blog confirmed that he hasn't done anything to make people hate him the way they do. So really, I think it's just the "cool kids" ganging up on the oddball.

I just kept saying last night "Mia, please stop cursing. Mia? Please. Please, Mia..." She lost her sh*t in a major way.
She went out like such a loser, I'm surprised at her. For someone who's supposedly accomplished so much, against all odds, she let one lil challenge get under her skin? And claiming she did it for Elia? Just rang sooo false. I think she committed to that "I'm doing it for you, girl!" routine before she had a chance to think it through.

Little known fact: Mia is the first person in her family to "make something" of herself. And she was once homeless. And sold drugs. I know, who knew? She really kept that to herself...
Man, thank god she left--though I wish we could have heard who was going to get the boot (don't think I believe the judges' blogs that it was going to be Elia).
