Yeah, he made fun of his own screwups, and that won me over for a long, long time. But by the end of the Bennifer fiasco, I was fed up with him making fun of his annoying behavior over and over and over and over again while continuing with the same annoying behavior. What he needed to do was go away for a while, and Jennifer Garner must have clued him in to that because that's what he eventually did. And he also needed to stop making movie after movie that was complete and utter shit, which he apparently also did.
Speaking of which, I saw part of Jay & Silent Bob a few weeks ago, and he sucked so hard. He was clearly so impressed with how funny he thought he was being, that he didn't even bother to maintain a straight face. Or be at all convincing. It's irritating enough when he sort of cracks up at himself on SNL (which he always does), but to do it in a movie is inexcusable.

He's very charming in his films - can't help but like him. I saw him in "Paycheck" last week - he and Uma were cute together.
And he's a fellow migraine sufferer!

This evening Armageddon was on Encore and it sort of rekindled my good feelings for him. That was the movie that turned me onto him. Then I saw a behind the scenes featurette on Hollywoodland and he was charming as usual.
If he wasn't a huge Red Sox fan I'd be into him again even with the Jennifer in his life.

Yea, but the movie was jay and Silent Bob Strike Back - theyre ALL just messing around and trying to amuse themselves. This is a movie that breaks the 4th wall many many times. I've giggled at Ben and Kevin Smiths antics for ages - the way they take the piss out of each other in interviews and stuff cracks me up.

I remember seeing him with Violet, looking down at something at a restaurant. He looks so natural and there must be a great deal of good in a man for caring so much about a disabled young boy he could have ignored shortly after meeting him once the PR stunt was over.

I loved him in his SNL Mango skits, especially the one where he pretends to be Matt Damon. There is a lot to hate HoHo for, but most of all, I'll hate her for ruining this decent guy's career. At one point in that sketch wasn't he pretending to be Matt Damon pretending to be Ben Affleck? Mr. Sunnyhorse and I were on the floor laughing. I like the guy.

The scene where Holden explains what the 'net is kills me:
And Ben's "No, bullshit, because I wasn't WITH a hooker today, HA-HA" line kills me.

And there were recently photos of Ben, Jennifer, Violet and that little disable boy that Ben is friends with. Ben's looked out for that guy since Forces of Nature. I remember reading in a magazine that he called the kid personally to let him know about him and Jennifer getting married because the boy is very close to Jennifer as well. That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. I also think it speaks volumes that before Bennifer 2, Jennifer Garner had a lot to do with the little boy. She stayed close with him after filming Daredevil with Ben. I remember seeing an interview on Access Hollywood where the boy and his mom were talking about how see Jennifer is and he has pictures of her plastering his walls. Yet JLo was engaged to Ben at the time never had anything to do with the kid. And the boy didn't mention her/have her photos around his room. That's a sweet story. I admit it, I'm hoping he manages a bit of a comeback with Hollywoodland (it's got Diane Lane, so the film is sure to have at least some class).

He went on Leno and read the worst of Gigli's reviews! I think he was very aware of how much of a joke J.Lo was making him at the time but knew how to play it. I think I've said it before, but THAT moment is what perma-endeared me to Affleck.
