I still like Ben Affleck. Probably because we've had some time apart and discovered more about ourselves. Plus he had a kid and seems to have straightened out a bit. Or something of that nature. Although I can never forgive the hack job done on "Clear and Present Danger". That really wasn't his fault though. Nazis? Really. Try again, screenwriters, try again.
I would still see a movie with him in it, I'm sure. Hell, I just watched "Jersey Girl" and enjoyed it quite a bit.

At the Venice film festival, Ben made some some negative remarks abou the paparazzi and how they turn the stars' lives into soap operas with commercial breaks (their actual work). Even though I like Ben, I wish he would just shut up. Wasn't he the guy who agreed to appear in a prime time special with Pat O'Brien called "Ben loves Jen" or something like that. Talk about turning your life into a soap opera.

I'm pretty sure Ben's comments were take out of context. In the press conference I saw he and the cast were discussing old school Hollywood, where an actor like George Reeves was known only as Superman, even the stories regarding his death were about Superman shooting himself. And comparing it to Hollywood now where everything about an actor's private life becomes public discussion.
Having said that, I have heard Ben complain about paparazzi in the past and I cringe everytime. Bennifer Part One had the paps on speed dial.

Ha! Funny.
I never got to the point of hating him either. He's not a great actor, but he's all right. I think I like him more because he and Garner haven't been gushing over each other in the press. They appear to have a sort of normal relationship. I am ready for them to appear together on the red carpet someday though.

Consider the types of questions being asked at the Venice Film Festival photocall: Q: I'd like to ask Ben and then the other actors -- this movie is about your life in Hollywood not really going the way you planned. Could you talk about having those moments in your own life in Hollywood? Q: Is Hollywood a little bit more forgiving today for a bad role, that kind of thing than it was back then? Q: Following on this theme of a changing world, I was fascinated by the character of Howard Strickland because he was just the supreme fixer in this case. How do you think he would have functioned into today’s climate. Do you think he would have been able to cover up the events of what happened in Malibu 2 weeks ago? Q: The film, as far as period went, the audience was primarily interested in characters and not so much the actors’ personal lives, whereas today it seems the opposite. Has that made your jobs harder? Then you can understand his answers and see how they once again take it out of context and twist it into a "Lashing Out At The Paparazzi" story. www.moviesonline.ca/movienews_9816.html

Ben was hilarious and very smart. Salmon Rushdie was one of the funniest people I've seen on T.V. Really. Who knew that he had a wicked sense of humor under all of that fatwa-inducing serious-novel-writing image?

He was really out of it! It's kind of funny actually.

Affleck started dating Garner that year (2004). I'd say he found her in the nick of time! He does appear to have changed and they are happy now so that's all that matters

Wow, that was really uncomfortable watching, I had to turn it off. He was obviously on the wrong track and good for him for getting his life sorted out. It would've been so easy for him to completely hit rock bottom, going from the biggest thing in Hollywood to Gigli...well that's a recipe for severe depression right there. He looked really good at the Hollywoodland Premiere. I saw pictures of Jennifer, but I didn't see any of them together. It's kind of sad that he feels so burnt by the whole Bennifer thing that he can't walk the red carpet with his wife.
