Yeah, my thoughts exactly in the film's thread. He's almost a supporting actor.

Way to go Ben! I think this is his first serious award since the Oscar almost 10 years ago. I also wished he was in the movie more, everytime Adrien Brody was on screen I was bored and wanting to go back to Ben.
I hear you. It's the main reason why he's always been my favorite of Matt & Ben, Matt's too short for me. (Hey, tall girls need love too!)

I like how he looks with the graying temples (in previews for the film). It's a nice contrast to how cookie cutter perfect he ususally looks.

Last years winner was David Straithern so this definitley boosts his Oscar Profile.

Wow. I, too, am glad he is getting recognized for his performance in Hollywoodland. He definitely had more of a supporting role (but his presence was felt throughout the film and that can change how people view the part in the film - like Kristin Scott Thomas as a lead vs. Juliette Binoche as a supporting part in The English Patient even though JB had more screen time) but his was a meta-performance that didn't feel gimmicky for one single second. Instead of winking at the audience, he played George Reeves super-straight and came out looking like a real actor who was willing to sacrifice everything for a role.
I think it took real guts for someone with Affleck's career to play George Reeves. That he did it with grace and humanity and without any obvious humor (except what was in the script) is an incredible and brave feat. Seriously. I can't believe I am writing this about Affleck but, to me, it was incredibly brave of him to take on this role and I am so glad that he is getting recognized for it.

I too, was blown away by Ben's performance. The script had some problems and the movie was too long, but Hollywoodland was so well-cast and well acted. I could not imagine anyone else in the George Reeves role; I thought I was watching a careful character study of a tragic life.
Big, fat, naked Ben looked mighty fine. Never thought I would say that.

I bet he's blowing a sigh of relief because taking on that role was a risk.

It was for him. They could draw a lot of comparisons (although Reeves never experianced Ben's highs and he never experianced the same lows George did).
It was a sought after role though. I remember Hugh Jackman had signed on and was forced to drop out because of X-men 3

Did anyone see him last night on The Daily Show? He came across very well, but I think he has before on that show.

Slightly, O/T--Looong before I even knew boards like this existed. I remember in the news hearing about how Ben used to frequent one and finally he was found out. What's the scoop on that? Anyone know? Too funny!
