I have a serious, full-blown, take-him-away-from-his-wife crush on Barry Gibb...and I'm 23. If loving Barry is wrong, I don't wanna be right. ;D

Any lovers of the Brothers Gibb out there?

I don't have a crush on them, but I think they had more talent and were more important musical innovators than they have been given credit for. Their earlier 60s stuff has stood the test of time pretty well, I think. It was the disco era that turned them into something of a joke, though in retrospect, those songs were pretty tuneful also.

I remember a Beavis & Butthead episode where the pair happened upon the BeeGee's "Jive Talking" video and they were all "Who are these guys? They ROCK!"

I loves me some Bee Gees, baby. Even the cheesy, disco stuff-it's got a beat, I can dance to it, and it's catchy. So there!

The only thing that gives me pause is that Bary is supposedly buddies with Jacko.

I completely agree. I think there was a disco backlash in general, and the Bee Gees (unfairly) got the brunt of it.

I love 'em. Beavis & Butthead are right - they do rock.

They are definitely on that Lennon-McCartney caliber of songwriting.

I liked their early stuff "when I was small and Christmas trees were tall." Any group from south of the equator that made the big time meant a lot to me growing up in New Zealand. But then came disco, which I regard as the product of coke-induced mass hysteria, so I had to let them go. Generally speaking, I don't enjoy listening to guys who sing so high that bats start flying into each other.

Enjoy the songwriting skills, but what is up with the falsettos? Just can't groove on it, as Duke of URL pointed out. And it's still hard for me to summon up forgiveness for their participation in the "Sergeant Pepper" movie.

Wasn't there some announcement that Barbra Streisand is working with Barry again on a new album?

I'd hate to be Mama Gibb and outlive two children. Tragic, that.

I think I saw some special on the Bee Gees that mentioned that someone suggested the falsetto stuff to make them "stand out" - and well, they tried it and it worked.

I saw them live years ago, before Saturday Night Fever, they were wonderful. Sounded exactly as they did in the studio.

They have a long ton of great music and it's all holding up. Saw their request concert on Arts and Entertainment several years ago and it was amazing. Anything they did that got classified as "disco" actually gave disco some class.

I hope Barry and Robin are doing something creative. The last I heard Maurice had died and they were shocked senseless. Hope they are starting to pick up whatever pieces are left.
