Anyone catch the latest PBS "House" series, Texas, 1867? As a avid history buff, I would love to be on one of these, but I don't think Texas heat is for me without sunscreen.
I missed why the Colonel got fired. And what's up with Nacho, the cook? He seems very disgruntled. It always cracks me up that people agree to do this and then rebel against the subservience of their role.

The "singing" during "church" was hideous. Quotation marks were invented for that segment.

I watched a few minutes of it last night but the way it was being set up as a sort of sexist stronghold was obnoxious so I changed the channel. They had a woman who was keeping the fire burning and cooking and cleaning and two guys sitting down putting nail in wood -- both commenting that the other gender did less.

Ok, so no one's watching this show but me. Sigh. Well, I'm enjoying it.

I love the House series, but I keep forgetting this one is on. Must be my aversion to all things Texas (no offense to Kafka and the other Texans here).

I'm with you, sleepy. And honestly, seeing that dry, dusty land with tumbleweeds and snakes (!)(insert "plane" joke here) doesn't make me want to go there anytime soon.

I watched an episode last night, the one where they have the horses rustled. They found some, but did they just chalk up the other ones as gone? Seemed like poor editing to me--or maybe they just never went out looking for the rest?
The cowboys and the ranch owning family I understand, but what is the one single girl there for? Is she supposed to be a housekeeper/maid type person? Not sure what her role is.
Mr. Bellita's family are ranchers from West Texas, so it's interesting to me in that respect.

It always cracks me up that people agree to do this and then rebel against the subservience of their role. The Colonel got into an argument with Nacho then he punched or shoved Nacho so he got fired. The cowboys and the ranch owning family I understand, but what is the one single girl there for? Is she supposed to be a housekeeper/maid type person? Not sure what her role is. She's the "girl of all work", basically a servant. I missed the last two episodes last night. =(
